I agree but this team hasn't bunted well this year either. I keep thinking someone's going to lay one down but usually it gets called off due to 2 strikes.

I've never understood why more teams don't bunt against the shift. It's a free base...take it!
Two reasons immediately come to mind:

1. you have to be a competent bunter
2. in many cases, teams don't do the most severe shift until the batter has 2 strikes on them. A guy who sits behind me constantly whines about us not bunting with 2 strikes, and nobody within 50 feet of 3B. Um, if the bunt goes foul, you are out.

For sure...you don't do it with 2 strikes. There are times when there aren't 2 strikes or the 3B is playing 10 feet behind the bag even when on the correct side of the infield. That's when I'd like to see it to keep the other team honest.
