whoa whoa whoa. What happened to all of the college players who are going to have fatal myocarditis and the ICUs that will be over run with patients if we open schools and play sports? I believe testing for those college teams is run by independent third party companies. I don't think that even Saban would want to circumvent those rules.in all seriousness this would be my approach at this time
set week 1 or 2 of October as a date to begin games
this gives enough time for the other leagues to show whether it can logistically be accomplished based on the guidelines set by the NCAA, and probably enough time to assess what impact having the general student population on campus might have
1st 6 games of the season are divisional
week 7 is a cross over with the other division - 1v1 2v2 etc
the 1 vs 1 game is the big ten championship
that gets you to 7 games and can name a conf champion by late Nov depending on bye weeks or rescheduled games
after those 7 games it can be assessed where things stand with the CF playoffs - if further games are possible can continue with cross divisional games or partner with other regional teams
testing is understandably very controversial and viewed with skepticism on both sides - I have my doubts whether Auburn and Alabama's starting QBs are going to get valid tests if they are asymptomatic heading into that game

The leaders in their state legislature might be able to exert some pressure in the budget process but that isn't going to help in the short term. Obviously the governor has their back. University administrators know that when it gets to budget time their allies in their state and local media will make sure they get their money.Unfortunately GOP leaders probably aren't going to have much sway with these university presidents. Dems are the ones they would listen to.
I don't think even the most cynical person would believe that SEC coaches would allow that. For one thing, there's no way to know before the test that someone was going to test positive. I've been very critical of Saban's ethics for example but even I don't think he would attempt to circumvent those rules or attempt to falsify a test. It would be the end of his career and completely ruin his legacy if he were caught. That one would be way too easy to prove and all it would take is one disgruntled player to do it.I think the tests are run by independent labs - I may be wrong but for the school I am associated with, the samples are collected by university personnel. Easy to get a negative test by hedging on the collection.

My comment wasn't really focused on the date, but on us football fans dutifully playing the role of Linus.Depends on what the objectives are. The kids would have a little more in the tank for next year if we started Halloween instead of post-Thanksgiving, but that's still about a month late to be apart of "big boy" football. Don't get me wrong, I'll take whatever date we can get, but the debate seems to be increasingly framed as now or never when it comes to revote.
NO WAY??Did you not get the memo that show is racist now?? For realz.
Offset by Peppermint Patty and Marcie being ground-breaking characters.Did you not get the memo that show is racist now?? For realz.
