Mid-Suburban League-DVC Merger?

Apparently the MSL and DVC have merged for the 2026 season? Anyone know anything about this? I see a few of the schools are scheduled to play each other.

I know the DVC has always had issues with scheduling ever since the Wheatons etc. left the conference and it was just the Napervilles/Valley Schools.

It’s not a merger. Just a partnership for this year. With the CSL pulling out of the msl partnership the msl ads had to find new games. You’d be surprised how hard it is to find games if you are a good 7/8a school. No one wants to play other than the private schools and other great programs.

Extremely disappointed in all the CSL members that voted against playing the MSL teams. Terrible!!

I wish they would have kept it for the CSL South. However, there were some pretty bigger mismatches for the second tier North schools like the Maine West, the Niles, etc. I think the CSL South went 1-11 in their crossover games this year and most of those games weren't even close.

That's mostly because the CSL South is so bad at football

The MSL went 10-2 in Week 3 and 9-3 in week 4 this year. Of the 5 CSL wins, Maine South had two of them.

Since the series began in 2019, the MSL led the series 94-33.

I grew up with a lot of Maine South friends, and have rooted for Hersey, BG, Hoffman, and Palatine at various times over the years. I really loved those crossovers and some of the fun matchups. But there is a noticeable difference in the quality, top-to-bottom. Palatine rotated through MS GBS ET and NT. I liked those matchups. Bring on The Valley!

I feel as if no matter what the DVC does it screws over DeKalb. The red headed step child of the conference

They are not merging. Some teams are playing non-conference games against each other . The MSL has 12 teams. Hoffman is playing 4 games against the MSL East. It isn't a merge. The CSL vote was 12-0

Any chance the CSL would reconsider now that all 3-6 teams will make the playoffs?

Also, are the DVC teams no longer playing in the "Southwest Valley"?

I guess not which is why I put this thread up here because I wasn't sure. The top three schools in the DVC have all picked up MSL teams for week 3 of the 2026 season.

No longer playing the southwest the DVC.
So the SW Valley basically reverts to the former SWSC minus 'Brook. That leaves the 3 LWs, 3 D230 (Sandburg, Andrew, Stagg), Bradley, H-F and Lockport. Got to wonder how that will shake down. If every team plays every other team, I could see some decent parity among the top 7 of those 9, with 1 loss or even 2 for the eventual conference champs. In this round-robin scenario, 1 team may not win a league game and 1 will probably be pleased with an expanded playoff. Given the last 2 sentences, playing every other team may not happen, to allow some softer non-cons to occur. So how arbitrary will the conference scheduling be (enrollment, past record, blind draw)?. If the 3 LWs are allowed to duck each other, that would seem unfair.
