We are still 2-3 high-level pieces away from this team being a sure fire contender. Could the players we have take massive steps forward and the team develop into a contender? Sure. But Pope and UK needs a much higher level of certainty than that after 2 mediocre seasons. It’s time to put up or shut up. If he can’t haul in at least one big time prospect by the time the season starts, I think this will be Pope’s last year as UK’s HC.

Don’t sell him short. He’s working his tail off and we are one stud away from 21-11. 20-12 is a thing of the past. Pope is so close to his first 5 star recruit. All he needs is every other school to run out of money and scholarships.

Looks like with all that talent Cal still can not win the big games. So why not cut Pope some slack until we see how all this plays out.

I hear you but you simply can’t compare Pope’s history and record to Calipari. Just doesn’t make any sense. One year does not show the reality of the true comparison.

I’m not pining for Calipari. I was in the group that thought and still believe his time at UK was done. Just can’t compare their history of successes or lack thereof.

Why does it have to be either/or? I, like many others I would imagine, don't want either within 100 miles of the program.

Even if they did run out of money, they would still take a pay cut to play elsewhere instead of playing for Pope.

Absolutely! The people on here who bash Pope are insufferable. He’s one of ours. You can’t tell me last year would be as bad had Lowe not got hurt. Give a year or two with no excuses. His players. Hes down right now and people keep kicking him make fun of anything he does or doesn’t do. Shame on the ones who do that.
Criticize everything.
