Dude sounds ready to clean up. Heard several blanketed statements in there as if he was hinting at fixing Frosts customs. Tackling being one of the primary aspects. Sounds like they've been going live!

His answers are short and to the point. No messing around with this coach. He tells the kids the truth. That's what they need. He'll get on them but he will hug them at the right time. I believe the team will fight for him and each other.

He comes across as very thoughtful, in command, and intelligent. I hope he does well.
Ha, I hope ANY next head coach at Nebraska does well. That includes Mickey or anybody that is hired as the full time head coach. Fans deserve to get a winner after suffering so long.

He basically is going to get a multigame audition, and if he surprises in a good way, I would expand the audition into next season. I think he deserves a legitimate opportunity.

Watch the presser. Funny how much they are talking D and lack of tackling. Chins is now also DB coach. Neb only program with a single DB coach instead of 2.

I hope he has some success. Not sure the tackling woes and gap coverage are quick fixes. It seems on most missed tackles it’s both poor technique and taking terrible angles especially in one on one situations and that may be a talent thing.

Frost was a cluster-**** every presser. MJ sounds intelligent, has thoughts on root causes of failures and plan to fix them. A world of difference from Frost. Next, we’ll see how this translate on the field.

I really hope Mickey succeeds but I'm not going to fall for press conferences speeches by anyone. I want to see actual wins on the field. That's my criteria.

Agree. I am also not going to assume some shiny new outsider is our best choice. Let’s let Joseph audition.

I found that very interesting as well. Also pretty nice to have someone who knows something about defense and offense.

That one statement caught me off guard... I think his brother is going to have a wealth of knowledge to pump him up with.

Gotta start somewhere. If he hammers at it in practice hard, it should improve.

Hopefully Chins can see that Farmer is very bad at football...now that he coaches safeties. Also maybe he won't have them 50 yards off the ball.

Refreshing press conference. My biggest takeaway was that they are actually tackling in practice. Even a blind hamster can see that our defense is a dumpster fire and the fact that they are practicing tackling and putting a coach specifically for safeties in place (Chins) says that Jospeh knows that defense is a big problem, despite his coach speak about how you can't blame a single unit for a team's failures. If we played even somewhat better defense this year we would be 3-0 right now. The problem is the defense.

I hope Mickey does well enough to get the job. He's got a proven track record of player development. His recruiting has been outstanding since he got here. If he's the head man going forward, I think he'd elevate the overall talent level substantially and won't have a defeatist attitude of "elite talent doesn't want to play at Nebraska" but never making the actual effort to land that elite level talent. All the resources are there to be successful and I truly hope he's able to turn this ship around.

Me too. Lots of morons on Facebook who were saying it's the players' fault and Frost can't play for them etc etc. And I'll be damned, turns out Frost was tying their hands behind their back after all 🙄

Has some detailed thoughts on tackling, paraphrasing here... "you have to practice tackling to be good at tackling." Holy ****, I'm in love! I really hope the era of shorts and helmets is over.

Cosgrove’s law of Nebraska: If one side of the ball is playing well, the other side melts down.

It’s all starting to trickle out just how bad Frost was at “running” things. Not surprising given he is the worst coach in the history of the program. Former players on the radio are finally starting to talk a little about how bad things were.

Cosgrove’s law of Nebraska: If one side of the ball is playing well, the other side melts down.
You forgot the second part of that law: "Special teams are exempt from this law as they are always melting down"
