Missed the 2nd half, but was real happy with what I saw in the 1st. A lot of tough D. I thought the refs were calling some soft stuff on MSU in the paint, and then letting MSU get away with some real aggressive stuff at the perimeter.

Hannah and Ava really played strong in the paint, and TBH Deal looked great in her limited minutes.

Also Chit Chat's half court was so smooth.

A struggle at the end but they just beat one of the very best teams in the B1G to go 7-0 in the conference and 16-2 overall. One of the best starts in Iowa women's basketball history. Hell of a season so far. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it doubters!!

Mi St is a very good team. They play great defense, get into passing lanes and have very good 3 point shooters.
I'd take Van Sloughten any day to play for us. Aggressive and smooth.

I'm sure it's been commented on, but anyone else concerned with Mellegni? I know she's coming off injury, but she should be caught up by now. If she's been buried by the younger talent, I wouldn't be surprised if she hits the portal after the season.

Whew. Beating a dead horse but I have never seen so many awful passes in such a short time. Then add how many missed carries by officials.

St is very good in getting in passing lanes and pass anticipation IMO

VanSlooten is one of those players where you only like her if she's playing for you . She's a frustrating person to watch play against.

I’m not really sure what position she plays

She’s not big enough to be a post player, but she’s not athletic enough to really play the wing position

I’m not sure where she fits in on this team

I've given Ava grief about some of the dumb fouls she has committed in previous games so I want to give her credit for how she defended Van Slooten tonight. She moved her feet well, walled up when she could, and didn't do anything silly if she got beat.

I noticed she was less aggressive about going for blocks, which kept her out of foul trouble.

I honestly wonder if she has it. She seemed to have a good stroke but Addie Deal can score better and defend better. I think she is just passed. Maybe she gets Deal's minutes if she stays next year as Deal gets McCabe's minutes?

Twice I saw her yelling at the refs, she should have been T'd up the second time. She is nasty and extremely physical, she should have fouled out early.

I would think she has a decision to make following the season, with Woliczko joining next season, and possibly Rodriguez back and healthy. Speaking of Emely, I wonder if they are considering a medical redshirt for her?

I would still like her to exaggerate her verticality. Some refs call those by the book.
here’s the thing, vanslooten is good and she missed shots when Ava just walked up. Stay on the floor for the most part and good things happen.

I'm sure the goal is a med redshirt, but her absence really leads to some speculation that there will be a parting of ways.
