Jordan still better than half the players in the NBA now.
This post reeks of jealousy and insecurity. I can appreciate the greatness of one Michael Jordan, and still know we are the king of college basketball. I hate when fans act like any player that is associated with a school is a “POS”. Get out of here with that BS.Baffling that any UK fans idolize that Tar Heel POS. You can bet his money, fame and influence was a major factor in UNC skating for decades of cheating.

I’m from Harlan; about 55 miles from HazardYou need to get out more; if one looks up POS in the dictionary there will be a picture of his Airness. EVERYONE who has ever dealt with him would agree.
I grew up when Chamberlain and Oscar were dominating the game. The NBA changed rules to inhibit Wilt And also passed those Jordan rules to make him untouchable.
By the way, where are from in Eastern Kentucky? I grew up in the great city of Hazard.

Harlan gets a bad rap, some of it deservedly so, but there’s no where else I’d wanna live. I love these mountains, and the people, too. The only way I’d ever leave would be if my job is compromised at some point, which could very well happen.Know it well. Great folks down there. My brother is good friends with Johnny Cox. I was in High School with Jim Rose (went to Western) Too bad we can’t get really outstanding players from our state anymore.
Left Hazard in 1969 and still say “I’m from Hazard”

He was 40 then. About the same time Kobe lit him up for 55 points. He is now 56 and shoots mid-range better than anyone? Ok.He shoots midrange shots better at 50 than anyone on the planet besides maybe Durant. He averaged 20+ a game for the Wizards and could barley dunk anymore lol.
Westbrook? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:Wilt and Russell were better
Putting the title of GOAT on any player is impossible. There is a lot to it. I'll say this , Jordan is definitely in the conversation, but so are some others.Wilt and Russell were better

He is ? Why didn't Jesus Jordan guard Kobe, instead of Stackhouse? My guess is he did, and had about the same success. No one comes close to Jordan is just naive. You said that like he scored 55 on Jordan, Jerry Stackhouse was guarding him.
I'm not about to say MJ is the best at anything in his 50's but in his day no one came close to him. He is the GOAT.
Wilt and Russell were better

Agree to disagree. All are great and lay valid claims, but mike will always be greatest in my eyes. Had everything. The game, the swag, the results. Ultimate competitor and couldn’t keep eyes off him.Wilt and Russell were better
Well, I mean, I'm not defending Jordan but a 25 year old Kobe scoring 55 on Stackhouse is impressive but Jordan scoring 25 at age 40 is also impressive.
Jordan at age 40 (final season) - 22 points per game
Kobe at age 37 (final season) - 17 points per game
Kobe played 5 more seasons than Michael Jordan yet had less rings (5 < 6), less scoring titles (2 < 10), less MVPs (1 < 5), less Finals MVPs (2 < 6), fewer career 50 point games, fewer 50 point games in the Playoffs, fewer 40 point games in the Playoffs, etc....so, Kobe wasn't close..and neither is Queen James.
Did James touch you? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Does that make you jealous?[jumpingsmile]

I work in coal mines so I'm always on the bubble,, lol.. From knott.. I'd not leave for nothing.. Just would go full time pot botanist..Harlan gets a bad rap, some of it deservedly so, but there’s no where else I’d wanna live. I love these mountains, and the people, too. I definitely agree that it is pointless to compare different eras. I mean it’s cool to have a discussion about it but those kinds of discussions have led to some intense arguments and it’s pretty pointless because the style of play and rules were different in each era.My father cringes when I say Jordan is goat. He thinks it ridiculous. Goes on and on about Wilt Chamberlin.
You just have to name the goat of each era and leave it alone. No way to cross compare.
I mean Jordan is better than half the league at 56, surely he could guard Kobe when he was 40. To hear a lot of people, an ounce of Jordan's sweat could cure cancer.[laughing]
We'll put a team together and see if we can determine why a 40 year old forward wasn't the sole defender on the other teams 24 year old guard.
I agree Kobe wasn't better. I just don't think you can definitely say Jordan is the greatest ever.Well, I mean, I'm not defending Jordan but a 25 year old Kobe scoring 55 on Stackhouse is impressive but Jordan scoring 25 at age 40 is also impressive.
