I was just looking through my new issue of WIN, and Michael Beard (a reigning All-American), is not ranked in the top 20 at 197 lbs. Max Dean however, an All-American from two years ago in a lower weight class, is ranked 5th. How can this be?

they're preseason rankings. take them with a grain of salt. they're good for discussion, but at the time they are written/published, nobody knows for sure what weight all wrestlers will wrestle, what RS or true freshman will have break-out years, etc.

They are assuming Max is our starter ... so Michael can't be ranked.
