What does any of that have to do with Avenatti? Or Duke? Or Zion? Or anything that’s gone on in college sports the last 10 years?

He had two tweets about Zion, back to back. The other one had the specifics.

Plus he had an entire Dropbox file that was only part.

I’m aware he had two tweets about Zion. I summarized the content of both tweets in my post. His tweets were anything but specific and merely hinted at potential wrong doing.

I also have read all 41 pages of the Dropbox file, which I take it you have not. The Dropbox file has nothing to do with Zion, or any of the other un-named 100’s of other players Avenatti accuses Nike of paying.

Further, the Dropbox file contains very weak, circumstantial evidence, is extremely sloppy work and in some instances contradicts itself. In other words, a competent attorney would be embarrassed if they had drafted that document.

But back to the specifics, if Avenatti provided specific allegations as you are asserting, then it should be fairly easy for you to quote those specifics directly.

If you don't think it was specific saying his mom was paid for consulting services, and naming the payee as the check was written - then I guess we don't agree on what amounts to specifics.

Avenatti didn’t say Zion’s mom was paid.

What he said was essentially: “someone should search Nike’s vendor portal over the last 4 years to see if there are any payments to Zion’s mom for consulting services.” That is not an allegation with specifics. It’s not even an allegation, it’s simply insinuating something happened. He’s merely hinting at something which is the opposite of providing specifics.

The difference between providing specifics and what Avenatti tweeted is pretty clear.

He said she was paid for consulting services and gave the year and payee name.

If that isn't specific, then we just disagree on the definition of the term.

Avenatti did not say she was paid. You should learn to read things more carefully.

Below is the text from his two tweets.
  • Can you please ask Zion Williamson’s mother - Sharonda Sampson - whether she was paid by @nike for bogus “consulting services” in 2016/17 as part of a Nike bribe to get Zion to go to Duke? Thx.
  • I almost forgot - long day - @DukeMBB can you also have your close friends at @Nike check their Nike Vendor Portal for payments to “Sharonda Sampson Consulting”. Just search 2016 to the present. Appreciate it.
Nowhere does he say she was paid, he simply asks two questions. In no way, shape or form is that a specific allegation. He’s merely implying wrongdoing because he knows people will fall for that.

Contrast that with the types of allegations Avenatti makes when discussing Ayton or Bol:
  • $10,000 cash paid to Andrea Ayton, DeAndre Ayton’s Mother, in Phoenix, AZ on 6/29/2016.
  • $10,000 check (of $15,000 total) paid to AAU basketball coach, Shaun Manning, Nike EYB player Brandon McCoy’s “handler,” on 7/1/2016.
  • $2,500 cash paid to AAU basketball coach, Shaun Manning, Nike elite player Brandon McCoy’s “handler,” on 7/18/2016
Are you not able to see the massive difference between the two?

I perfectly understand the semantics involved. Just didn't think we were in litigation. By anyone's general understanding, his statement is saying she was paid. He couched it as a question to try to avoid additional legal issues.

And if saying when payments were made and the payee on the check aren't specifics - that's just a disagreement on the term. Doesn't mean they're true per se. But it's plenty specific

Except that these aren’t mere semantic differences, and as an attorney, Avenatti likely understands that.

But for the sake of argument, let’s reframe Avenatti’s questions more as a statement, which would likely be something to the effect of:
  • At some point over the two year period of 2016-2017, Nike may have paid “Sharonda Sampson Consulting” an unspecified sum of money as a bribe to get Zion to attend Duke.
That is a very weak and vague accusation.

I think Avenatti now has a lot more to worry about beyond just Nike, Dook and ZW's mom. That list of govt indictments that was handed down on Thursday could put him away for hundreds of years. I doubt whatever ZW's mom was or wasn't paid will figure prominently into his defense against those allegations.
Whatever hope we may have had that he might finally be the one to pull back the curtain on the Dook fraud might have just evaporated.

Avenatti is probably more credible then Katrina Powell was and her accusations were enough to get UL in trouble. I doubt he would say anything about ZW or Duke unless he knows something.

If he has such proof against Zion and Duke... I bet "Top Men" will park that so called evidence right next to the Ark of the Covenant.

The NCAA will just close their eyes and don't look at it, for fear their faces might melt off.

yes, scary isn't it?
Why rock the boat, and risk Armageddon, just because dook and uncheat CHEAT.

Well imagine that.
GTFOH. Of course you pop in like
Zion and Puke are clean.
Your phony *** coach is still what he is, an old senial POS who has been aided
By Nike to get Zion and other players.
All good
Though, he still
Can’t get to a final four with all
The talent the last 3 years.
