True, but nobody anywhere has accurate height listed. JMike 6’2” LOL. How tall was Cliff really ?

Gordon isn’t shorter than anyone else listed at 5’11.

He will do very well in the Big East. That’s the perfect place for his game.

If he kid was 6’2” or taller he’d be a 5*.

Saw him play live at the RAC. Very impressive. Sick vertical for his size.

The BIG eats up smaller guards though. Wish him the best.

It is a real concern, which is why so many coaches passed on Braden Smith. In high school the talent was obviously there, the size wasn’t.

And look at his height in our rosters. Point is, Gordon’s listed height is no more phony than anyone else’s so he’s the same actual height as most everyone else listed as such.

Braden Smith is an exceptional player. However, he was set up for success in Painter’s system where everyone’s role is defined, where there is always a skilled big man. and possessions are valued. He was a perfect fit for Purdue.

He was also a very good defender. I watched a lot of Purdue games and opposing teams really didn’t take advantage of his height when he was on defense. He lead the team in steals with 66 last year and was tied with Trey Kaufman Renn for third on the team with blocks with 8. Granted that was far behind Cluff and Jacobson who had 36 and 47 respectively.

That being said most talented shorter players struggle against similarly skilled players who are taller. You have to be an exceptional player with way above athleticism or develop some specialized skill sets like Tariq Francis to excel against the big and talented Big Ten players.
