Going to the Barcelo resort for 2 weeks to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Have been to Playa del Carmen before but it’s been 10 years ir so. Any advice on getting through customs, etc. would be appreciated.

Assuming you're flying into Cancun, this probably won't be helpful but I was there a year ago and I don't remember having any trouble going through customs. The line moved pretty quickly if I remember correctly.

I would not recommend getting margaritas at the outside bar when you exit the terminal. We sat down waiting on some others to arrive and ordered two margaritas and when the bill came, it was $80.00. Ouch

Watch out for scammers when you're leaving, if you use the self-service kiosks. I put my credit card in for identification for my boarding pass but it wasn't working and immediately two guys who looked like airport employees approached and took me to another kiosk, then directed me to the check-in line. By the time I remembered that I had left my card in the first kiosk, they had rung up a couple thousand dollars on my card. Thankfully my cc company wiped the charges...

Thanks for your input. The last time we flew into Cancun we had to fill out paper forms prior to entry into Mexico. Is that still status quo?

Now that you mention it, yes we did. The flight attendants handed them out to us while we were in flight so we filled them out before landing. No biggie.

Which Barcelo resort are you going to? I have been to the Royal Hideaway in Playacar twice.
