OP struggles mightily with differing opinions on this board, especially if you’re in any way critical of Pope or if you don’t hate Calipari with every fiber of your being.

just being a realist here.
I do not and will not hate Calipari. No amount of peer pressure will force me to either. He won us a natty, got us to 4 final fours and returned our dormant program back to dominance. I do think he is slightly overrated by his biggest supporters but his haters give him very little credit for being a great coach (not just a great recruiter.)

You mean like calling Pope… Poop.
I loath those guys.
I wouldn’t let it bother ya. Most of the internet is just people working for psychological rewards. Most interactions especially on a forum like this but any forum really are people having a break from face to face reactions and turn the platform to a sort of game as to who can win the comment sections. Research shows there’s many factors to it such as actual dopamine hits when your likes go up or someone receives high praise. It’s really not unlike anything else. Then you’ve got anonymity, less risk of being embarrassed, and don’t forget tribal belonging. When someone jumps to a comment section, being Witty with a few sentences shows the tribe I’m one of you, makes the person feel they belong.

It’s not really meant to be a serious or malicious attack on anyone. It’s fun to act 10 again too, and the internet gives you that.

I’ll partake at times and other times I’ll post multiple paragraphs in attempt to begin a more honest, thought out, intellectual conversation. Posters looking for witty responses, looking to win the thread, looking for those dopamine hits aren’t going to read it. It’s too long. So those that respond aren’t playing the game.

So if you to respond to me with multiple paragraphs we will essentially be bypassing the game. No Poop, no retread stolen Reddit one liners, no dealing with google guy who quickly runs over to AI to get generated responses.

Wow, this is probably your best post imo. As someone who has done a lot of thinking about the "meta" beyond the content within the conversations themselves, I agree with a lot of what you said here. Screw the dopamine hits --- your thought-out articulated comments present you in your best version imo. But I'm also not here to be on a winning team. I'm here to have my thoughts deconstructed and to expose my own fallacies.
