Let me here your thoughts.

Good Looking weapon.......Reminds me of my days of drooling at the Colt catalog in high school instead of paying attention in class. That weapon & the Colt Delta Elite were some of my dream guns!

This is going to sound stupid.. But I feel privileged to build and own an accurate replica of a piece of American history.

This might be communist of me, but the ak47 is a better platform and weapon. Open the receiver, dump in a puddle of mud, drive over said gun with a light armor vehicle, and place your life on the line, ak wins. AR still a fine weapon.

I own both. If I were in combat and my life depended on it, give me the AK over the AR any day. It's just unbelievably reliable. As an general infantry weapon, it's far superior to the AR.

The AK is a steaming pile of dog **** compared to the AR-15. The reliability issue is vastly over-stated. I own multiples of both and have built both from stripped receivers. The quality of the weapon systems is not comparable. Give me a rack grade AR over a rack grade AK any day of the week, whether we're going to the range or back to Iraq.

It all depends on the make of the AK. A true Russian Type 2 or Type 3 with a milled receiver is a damn fine rifle. Very reliable and a good shooter. I'd take mine to combat any day!! On the other hand, you get a poorly made stamped AK and it's crap. I picked up a few Iraqi made stamped AKs while in Iraq and used them. I shot the first one I picked up and it blew the dust cover off. I chunked that one!!!
