Thought May made a mistake calling the TO on FAU’s last possession. I’d rather run the offense in the free flow of the game, plus they ended up having to burn their last TO because they couldn’t get the ball inbounds.

Good first half for UConn. da u missed a lot of lay-ups, but they also looked out of sorts on the offensive end much of the half.

Halftime: UConn 37, da u 24

UConn 46, da u 28, with 15:32 left in the second half. da u has scored on just 12 of their 39 possessions.

Every time Miami chips away and narrows the UCONN lead to around or under 10, then UCONN goes on a run.

Miami just hit a 3 with 6:06 left to cut it to 62-52, UCONN, then Miami gets a steal, UCONN blocks the shot and it's tipped out of bounds by Miami.

The 'Tecs are on a GD roll, my friends. I'm rolling with them to go the distance. SDSU to the Pac looks like a lock. Maybe we'll stick with 11 members and eliminate the number designation from the conference title. Call it the "Tu-Pac."

UConn, my goodness. Very complete looking team. They have the Purdue giant center, but they don’t have to run the offense through him. That Miami squad overachieves a bit, but UConn just kept their foot on their throat the whole game. Should be a good final game.

Yup. UConn was really good tonight. I think they’ll beat SDSU.

The lack of boxing out during free throws was mind boggling. That is fundamental bball and they falter in that aspect down the stretch.

FAU wasn’t boxing out on shots from the field either…..and SDSU plain outhustled FAU to the 50/50 balls late in the game.

If UCONN wins, it will be their 5th NCAA Championship since 1999. Very impressive. Most in that time period.

And did you notice the SDSU coach did NOT burn a time-out on the game winning shot. Remember the Purdue/PSU Big Ten final when we are down 2, Funk has the ball on a missed FT with 10 seconds left? What did the new ND coach do? Called a TO! Then PSU had to now INBOUND the ball again, and Purdue puts a 7-4 guy over the ball. You DON't call TO! The SDSU coach even said in his PC that they practice end of game stuff every day, he didn't want to have to inbound the ball again...

shrewsberry f*cked us in the a$$ all around. That’s in the past, however. Things are looking up with a guy who seems like he really wants to be at PSU. I’m willing to give him a few weeks to get things running right.

And that situation was ripe for a timeout because Dutcher had his 3 bigs in the game for defense. Just goes to show what preparation and trusting your players can do. Shrews didn’t believe in them in the BT final, Gard didn’t trust his in the NIT semi with an egregiously bad timeout. Tons of overcoaching nowadays in college basketball and I’m with those who want to reduce the number of timeouts.

It is not actually over- coaching, it is actually under- coaching by not doing things in practice to have your team prepared and confident. If Dutcher had needed a 3 he probably would have called a TO. But, I needed a 2 to win… live ball off a defensive rebound… done this in practice a thousand times, let them play it out. Funk gets a rebound, dribbling down the court, a 2 to tie, 3 to win, 10 seconds left, and you need to call a TO to run a set play, awful! At the end of March no less. You have only been practicing for 6 months!!
