These AD's are just dumb. Man I'm in the wrong profession.

Andy Kennedy would be a MUCH better hire than Tubby, and probably 2 million less when all is said and done. He knows how to recruit the area, could easily recruit memphis, and would win decently in that crap league.

Forbes too.

these AD's have some sort of hidden agenda. Pastner to GT? Tubby to Mem? retarded isn't the word.

Perhaps, but i need a sit down with Coach Smith on the art of negotiating,[roll][roll]

You should probably talk to his agent. He's the one pulling the strings just like every other agent talking with these schools and teams.

Certainly have to feel sorry for Memphis. They lost Coach Calipari; had to struggle through the Pastner years with great players and not coaching; and now looking at a future with Tubby Smith. Not sure it could get any worse for them.
they could hire BCG

Don't know anything about this person tweeting but looks like Tubby is going to be a big winner before all of this over.

Tubby will get a big raise and make Memphis top the Tech offer.

The big loser in all this of course: Georgia Tech, who should have grabbed Tubby to diss the Georgia fans and give them a better chance than where they are headed now.

The coaching fraternity sure seems small doesn't it?

I guess Bobby Knight can get his old job back now.........

I will say Tubby is not a bad x and o head coach. I just don't think he is the recruiter that everyone thinks he is at a major college. At Texas Tech he did make the Tournament and the #8 Seed in the Midwest vs. the tough #9 seed Butler. Texas Tech basketball was just happy to get back to the NCAA Tourney! I say with his recruiting and how he was in the last 3-4 years at Kentucky. He was consistently bringing in 3* Talent in last 3-4 years is why we were getting the #8 or #9 Seeds in the NCAA Tourney and losing either in 1st or 2nd round. At Texas Tech they are happy and satisfied to make the NCAA tournament each year. At Kentucky his last 3-4 years bringing in the 3* talent wasn't bringing in the talent that Kentucky was always accustomed to bringing in year after year! That is why we started seeing #8 or #9 Seeds in the NCAA Tourney and losing in 1st or 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament in last 3-4 years.

I agree the Tubbster is a good man, and I'd love to see him succeed; however, every preseason we were told that this would be the year that the team runs more of an uptempo offense.....never happened though.
Also, besides the money, is Memphis a step up from Texas Tech? At least Tech is in the Big12, I'm. It even sure what conference Memphis is in. Big East,AAC? Seriously, no clue. Is their any SEC programs that would be considered lower tier than Memphis? Maybe Missouri, but I would even question that. And this is coming from someone with absolutely no hatred for Memphis. They had their brief period of success with Penny, the golden era of Cal, but what else in between?

Memphis has a much more distinguished basketball history than Texas Tech. It might be a good match for Tubby, because there is plenty of local talent and a feeder network that seems to bring it in. Once he has the talent, he can make some noise.

Luckily, Georgia Tech sucks at life so we don't have to worry about that.

Stayed at UK for 10 years.
Fired from Minnesota so he didn't have a lot f choice to leave there

Yup, no allegiance there. You can bemoan Tubby Smith for a lot of things but leaving Tech for Memphis isn't one of them. He's just another one of the countless coaches that got fired from somewhere and took a better opportunity a few years later.
Tubby was bought out not fired the AD was new and came from VA Comonwealth to hire Shaka Smart who had no interest.Minny paid Tubby over 3 Million dollars to buy him out..Tubby planned on retiring til C.M.Newton brokered the Texas Tech deal.

Tubby is the luckiest man on earth. Gets hired to a job that's way over his head, wins a title with a whole host of good players that were signed by another coach (yes, he did a good job), became the highest-paid college coach (without going to a Final Four for 9 straight years), gets fired by a school that excepts anything close to being good, gets hired again and then leaves for over 3-million after winning ONE NCAA game in 9 years!! Wow, what a country. Of course, the world of political correctness will get him a HOF nomination next and then a banner put up in a school that he left in horrible shape and once put playing his Div. 2-talented son above his duty to make us great, UGH.

For the first time ever, I actually feel bad for Memphis if Tubby ends up as their coach.

Meh, if he can get the money and a deal he likes better, good for him. I expect everyone else would do the same.
