Had be tough for action news five to not devote all coverage to murders in the hood and give some time to criticizing a sold out game in a newly renovated stadium for a team and coach the city is excited about.

I still have nightmares about being stuck in that huge crowd and not being able to move. There were people having panic attacks and getting in fights because they couldn’t move.

My wife spent most of that game irritated with me because somewhere underneath I heard her calling my name but couldn't locate her in the mass of humanity and said "WHAT??" a little too loud when she was apparently pretty close to me but out of my line of sight, and she thought I was yelling at her.

A lot of the stuff they are complaining about is just normal for a packed out stadium. Parking and long lines are part of the experience. A lot of it could be fixed though. I’m sure concessions and the metal detector lines were especially horrible.

I’m still pissed off that the city forced Memphis in May and the world’s championship barbecue contest out of mud island to Liberty Bowl area. Both events were awesome, now not so much.

They actually gave away about 4,000 tickets and sold a lot for 9.01. Big push to make it look good for renovated stadium.

I reminded myself recently how truly dysfunctional and backward that city is when I saw the Memphis Belle in the National Museum of the US Air Force. A beautiful and iconic aircraft that Memphis never deserved in the first place and the best thing that could have happened was for the US Air Force to take away from that cess pool.

Memphis has proven they are a launching pad for up and coming coaches. I think all of there coaches since West have had success and gone on to big jobs. Memphis is a job young coaches want. When the current guy leaves, they’ll get another who will have success, repeat every few years.

Everyone knows (or should know) that the Delta starts in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel and the rest of Tennessee hates Memphis. Just look at what the legislature did by splitting Memphis across 3-4 congressional districts.

As much as Memphis wants to go to the Big 12, they’re in the perfect spot for them. Easy conference they can win in with very mediocre coaches. Big 12 would be a very different story.

I’m not sure what you are trying to argue. Young coaches do well at Memphis. It’s an easy place to win. They then sign very lucrative contracts at large schools. This pattern leads to more good young coaches wanting that job when it comes open.

As I said earlier. It's easy for Memphis to win in the conference they're in. Heck, Tulane was easily the best team in that conference last year and they wouldn't have beat us.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm making a joke.

The lack of success down the road should be a cautionary tale for getting glassy-eyed at a Memphis coach though. Success there does not equal success where you'd like them to be.

Even in my seats I was literally crammed in shoulder to shoulder side *** cheek to side *** cheek. At least the one on my left was the wife, and it helped me stay somewhat warm.
