Down 9 with 4 to go till half. I'm starting to be convinced that Haith is a really terrible tournament coach. Like historically bad.
Down 1 at half with Igbanu and Jefferies with two fouls and Joiner hurt?

I think Taplin just needed a bunch of us to make comments about how poorly he was playing. He went on his own 5-0 run after did so.
We are down 1 despite:
* Igbanu with 2 fouls
* Jeffries with 2 fouls
* Joiner injury (don't foresee him playing anymore this season)
* Shooting 29.6% from 2 point land
* Shooting 0-9 from behind the arc
If we just play an average 2nd half I think we win. It'll be close the entire way, I think, but we have a good shot even despite all of the above.

The Memphis board is blasting Tubby for his two foul rule. I’m glad he sat his three best players.
relieved with the 9-0 run to end the half. TU played good defense around the basket and good pressure defense to force Memphis into turnovers. That negated the worst offensive half since the USF game in Orlando. I'm hopeful TU can pull through this and will start to feel the game in the second half.
Surely someone will get hot. Not a really good performance by anyone for TU. Memphis may face foul trouble late.

Memphis shot 50% & we shot 29.6% in the first half, & we’re down 1 point.
We just need to hit a few more shots & keep up the defense & rebounds & we’ll be OK.

This has nothing to do with Haith's coaching. You can argue all you want about the 2 fouls and autobench philosophy. He's not the only one that does it. Plus I don't trust Igbanu or Jeffries not to foul in those situations. And Joiner being done means someone else (Henderson) is going to have to play the point as the back-up.
What Haith needs to do is get on them about moving off the ball. Very stagnant so far.
Good news is Memphis has 4 starters with 2 fouls each.
Need to drive, drive, drive, drive in the second half. We're ice cold from outside and they have 4 starters in potential foul trouble.
Terrible defense. Fouling threepoint shooters. Settling for pullup jumpers and long 2's. This is crap.

Taplin needs to remember he doesn’t have to go one on one every time with Jeffries, Scott & Henderson all around the 3 point line.
Whoever wants to tell me that that we're not seeing two different levels of coaching can go jump off a cliff. Tubby has his team prepared for our offensive sets. We're not running anything we haven't run in the last 10 games. We're not prepared at all for a team that lost to USF.

Damn it. As soon as I got optimistic... we play Memphis and "poof" --- I'm sick again.
