If your team is too lopsided it eventually comes back to bite you. Tulsa too dependent on guards and when they have a bad night, the team itself has a bad night period!

Sorry... but as much as I was optimistic going into this Tourney, tonight just confirms what MOST OF US already knew....

TULSA's TALENT LEVEL IS SO POOR COMPARED TO THE BIG BOYS OF NCAA BB THESE DAYS.

The talent gap tonight is/was HUGE.

We beat a lot of good teams this year. No way we should be losing by 30 points to a team with 13 losses. No excuse.

Listen we don't match up with teams that have more than two good players period. Height is one thing but Memphis beat us going big and going small. They have talent unfortunately their talent has overcome their coaching now that it's playoff time.

UConn and SMU and Cinci all have plenty of good players. We beat them each. I do not buy that Memphis is simply 20 plus points better. It goes deeper than that. It was a sloppy, heartless performance.

True. But great talent can play sloppy against a bad team like Memphis and get away with it. We don't have that talent. Not one player.

Woodard and Birt doubled their shot production in the final 4 minutes. Guess Memphis just got tired.

Players were simply not prepared for a smaller faster Memphis team on the floor. That falls on both the coach and players. One of the few Tulsa games I have seen the team just give up.

Yep.
Getting their bigs in foul trouble early actually killed us.

Well, at least we can look forward to next year. Next years team will be a more well rounded, and probably better in just about all facets of the game.

Please don't talk about how much better we will be NEXT year. I have heard that for the last 10 years EVERY year. Let's just go in with very low expectations and hope for the best.
I still see nothing to convince me we have turned any corner. Unless we are talking about that cliff we just fell off.

We may not be better but we certainly have our best shooting class in YEARS coming in so we'll at least have more than a couple scorers when paired with Birt and maybe Taplin

We will be a much better shooting team next year. I suspect we take a major step back defensively.

Looks like our opponents hit the trifecta when we hired the Buzzard, JP, and Wojcik...
This recovery is not over......

I'm kind of looking forward to next year. Seen this show for 4 years now basically. Ready for something new. This team is difficult. Lot of liabilities you have to try to overcome with strategy and gameplanning. I've thought the coaching has worked wonders this year given what we have.
C-USA talent....... like a puzzle with some pieces not made to fit. I like Haith's 4-out, 1-in offense, fun to watch when executes properly. Looking forward to seeing some hungry newcomers who's skills were recruited to fit the offense.

Ashamed of this team tonight. Never thought I would say that about a TU team but I'm saying it tonight. How you get embarrassed with 9 seniors by a mediocre Memphis team that you beat twice last year? No heart tonight. When Self's 2nd team got thrashed by Duke I was still proud of that team because they fought their guts out till the bitter end. These guys owe all TU fans a big time apology for the crap that was on display tonight. No excuse.

only way for us to stay with talent of Memphis is hitting 3's. That is how we stayed with them for the first 30 minutes last time. Have taken very few
Memphis threw a wrinkle of hedging the perimeter handoff (pick-n-pop play) TU leans on to create so many open 3-point looks, and TU had no answer (ignored Swanny rolling to paint unguarded) Memphis basically drove a wedge into TU's ball movement with this simple hedge, thus eliminating TU's typical 3- point game. Credit to Pastner??? Weird to think Fred Savage might have out coached the opponent.

I don't think the gap was talent, it was all effort. When they beat SMU, UConn, Temple, UH, and CIN they put forth greater effort.

This was the most pathetic performance in Tulsa basketball history, given the magnitude of the game and the opponent.

Not being competitive is inexcusable. Losing this game by any margin would be bad.

The NIT turnout could be equally embarrassing.

How a team could be so ill-prepared and show so little heart is puzzling.

Memphis players came from 3 top ten recruiting classes. It is no surprise they can play well. The surprise was our lack of any enthusiasm. The last three games Memphis has played like a top 20 team they should have been all year. We will be fun to watch next year. I love to see new kids with unbridled enthusiasm. Welcome Artison, Atson, Henderson, Igbanu, Korita, Magnay, and Battle.

Next years team will automatically be better by the fact the new PG's game will not be solely be about forcing the ball to the rim. I promise you, Taplin and Battle will make more than (7) 3-point shots next season! You can't win in March w/ a PG who is zero threat from 15+ ft.

As good as I think the guys coming in will be eventually, I don't see how there's any way we're better next year with a bunch of freshmen getting significant playing time
