Before 2 days ago I didn't give a rats *** about Memphis basketball or their fans, but good lord, they have come out of the woodwork talking trash on twitter about stealing a 4-star recruit from UK (when he actually hasn't even said he'll go to Memphis). These clowns think that they are a rival of Kentucky now and that they are a national powerhouse that Penny Hardaway is going to lead to the promised land. Never mind the fact that the guy hasn't coached a single minute of NCAA basketball.

My prediction is that he'll be fired in 3 years. And for those tiger fans who have been lurking here the last few days, Memphis basketball doesn't matter. Nobody cares about you, you're not a power program and you never will be. You're completely irrelevant!

Easiest way to deflect a Memphis fan: Ask them how many NCAA titles they have? Ask them how many power 5 conference titles or championships they've won? Ask them which STD prescriptions they need filled?

Answer Key: 0, 0, all of them!

Penny will get 4 to 5 years at Memphis before he takes a better job (I actually think he does decent there), especially when he lands Wiseman for year #2. They'll win 22 to 25 in a crappy conference during '19-20, make the tournament and get bounced in the first weekend.

Regionally, he'll rack up top 10 national classes, win around 25 a year, and take a better job somewhere.

I think he sinks his teeth into the deep south and recruits on a decent to high level. UK will seldom go up against him for kids, but when we do, we'll beat him in the post-Wiseman world.

Penny, the coach, will bring the same success to Memphis that he did as a player....which was NADA!

yeah, if only we had a title we could be 'big time' like CCNY and San Francisco...I believe they have 3 combined and you see how great they're doing.

Now you get it. That's how garbage your program is, CCNY and San Francisco have had more success than your raggedy program. Now run along and talk trash to UAB, UCF, USF or one of those schools on your level.

I'm from Memphis. Family friends. I think it's awesome that they are excited about bball again. Guys give this to them. We all know what the ending result will be. I've heard all of it from them. I just said great for you. I left out the fact that UK just signed and will probably sign 2 of the hottest wings coming out of HS for next year. UK will be ok. We live a lavish life in this game. I honestly believe UK wanted Jeffries to bounce. A good player. But role player. And no offense. We are ok. Just tell them congratulations and good luck. We all know the outcome.

And that's how bad Memphis sucks. You are the bottom of the barrel, you just don't realize it because you've been pumped full of BS.

I always enjoyed watching Memphis fans growing up. When I was younger they believed they were on par with UK. All of the guys my age really believed Memphis was a powerhouse, the city is totally delusional. As we grew and they realized that Memphis is a lovable loser, the smack died and they scurried back to their hole, and in that hole there is 1 final four and no titles, losing records lifetime to programs like Louisville and UT, and convicts.

I'll give Memphis fans a break. Pastner couldn't keep Cal's gravy train going and while Tubby is a good guy, he's not the kind of coach who will really excite your fanbase these days. Penny at least gives them some of that being a former prominent NBA player, a former Memphis player and a guy who may have local connections on the AAU scene.

Cal did not sweat DJ at all when he is in driver's seat for Whitney and just Landed Allen.. Memphis can have him if he truly didn't want to be here. Cal has moved on before he decommited anyways.All the UM media and fans can act like they won an NCAA title getting a UK 4* multi year recruit.

When I think of good programs Memphis never crosses my mind, never. What I do think when I hear Memphis is a irrelevant program that has fans who talk as if they matter when nobody outside of Memphis considers them relevant at all. It’s a ish talker program through and through, always claiming they would be something if they could just keep their recruiting base mecca. The fact is that UK has never relied on Memphis for players and yet has become the most decorated program of all time, they can keep Memphis.

Go talk to some directional school or Tennessee, maybe they’ll be impressed with your 80’s final four if it wasn’t vacated as I’ve lost track of Memphis accomplishments being stricken from the record books. Honest to goodness the only other thing that I remember about Memphis is that we took Cal from them.

You are who your audience is, meaning you aren’t relevant in the slightest when talking to UK fans but you might be when talking to UT Chattanooga. Operate under that simple principle and you’ll never look ridiculous.

When I think of Memphis, I think of switchblades being thrown on the floor while they loose to U6 once more. Now that's a sports hatered!
