Borrowing heavily (I'm being kind) from Michelle's 2008 speech, that's just embarrassing. Trump needs to fire a speech writer or two, shew. It's no wonder that Trump likes to speak off the cuff with speech "writers" like that. smh

What do you expect from a fraud and a fake of a man? A fake and plagerized speech from his wife. What is really embarrassing for much of these whackos is they plagerized the first lady they hate the most. At least they could have plagerized Nancy Reagan or Pat Nixon or something.

Come on whackos, keep supporting the actions of this man with your posts while at the same time saying you aren't supporting him. You are as fake and a fraud as Trump. Keep it up.

I'm never voting for him, but I love what he's doing to the left of the left of this board... including you.

Isn't doing anything to me other than feeling disgraced that the party you love and defend nominated him. Let's hope he doesn't get the opportunity to be elected and do your part speaking out against him if you are indeed not supporting him. Of course you won't. We all know your lack of character.

None of these plagiarism accusations should shock anyone in the least......this is, after all, big-time politics we're talking about.....but I myself consider it much ado about nothing. Just as is the case for most of the public shots taken by the two campaigns versus one another. Besides the basic notion that anything associated with Trump in 2016 would purposely be "taken" from anything associated with Obama is, IMO, more than just a little silly.

OTOH, this is why campaigns hire staffers to vet this kind of thing; just another example of what Trump is dealing with by thinking he can live with, comparatively speaking, a skeleton organization. And that's one thing he clearly didn't learn from "Lyin' Ted".....

Melania isn't running for office, how about Biden being a proven plagarist? I don't remember you being all high and mighty when he was nominated for VP.

Maybe because you weren't on this board at that time.

Bad attempt at denial and deflection.

The cover-up is bigger than the actual act. Did she plagiarize? Clearly. But, it isn't just that the topics are the same in the speeches. It was the exact phrases, and the exact order of her thoughts.

To claim there was no theft is comically bad. It is clear. So, as others have done in the past, 'fess up to it, and it would be a non-story in 24 hours after everyone laughing at her online.

But, since she claimed that she wrote most of the speech on her own and now the campaign manager claiming none of it was lifted, it's made the story that much worse. Instead of plagiarizing, which isn't extremely uncommon in some political speeches, they are both clearly liars. Of course, that also doesn't come as much of a surprise. Trump's denial of being the voice in the audio recording made decades ago was proof enough of his allergy to the truth.

I was on this board then. Are you as condemning of a senator and VP who really has been in power? I remember Biden's interrogating of Bork and all I could think, who did he steal his questions from. Melania owes her achievements to her own work, not racial preference or lowering of standards. Michelle's own words.

Yes, I had commented on Biden's past plagiarized comments. He took a sword for it and that means a lot to me when someone screws up and is willing to admit their mistakes. Trump won't and it appears you won't either.

Melania wasn't born in the US so she's not eligible to be First Lady.

But seriously, Trump is very popular among Evangelicals despite that fact that he's thrice-married and crude and uses vulgar language. Can anyone explain that one to me? Can you imagine Evangelicals doing anything but rail constantly against a Democrat with those traits? I think Evangelicals are putting their political beliefs ahead of their religious beliefs.

They are being hypocritical. They are pulling the lever for the "R". This election proves they would vote for Judas Iscariot if he said he was a Republican.

I watched the hearings and don't recall that.

What I do recall that when Biden got his turn, he talked about everything under the sun, but never addressing Bork nor giving him a chance to respond. At the conclusion of Biden's time, he slyly asked Bork if he wanted to respond. Deep laughter came from the rest of the panel, knowing that Biden never said anything that was worth responding to. Biden went way out of his way to make the hearing to select a new justice for the Supreme Court an absolute circus.

This was the first time I had seen a congressman make a total joke of himself instead of asking pertinent questions for the hearing. It is not unusual to see Bidenisms in most every hearing by the party attempting to protect the one being questioned. They are making a mockery of the two party system in running our government. The little stunt by Biden to draw a laugh has led to friendly members on the panel to spend their allotted time to engage in commentary that is not pertinent to the reason for the hearing. That has led to the non functional congress we hear so much about. All questions go along party lines and voting is also locked along party line.

I think it was definitely copied, and they changed or added a couple of words. The order is the same, and the part about reaching for your dreams is a dead give away. I'm not really bothered by it as much as I'm amused by it. For all of the anti-Obama bluster from Trump, using Michelle's words in the potential first lady's address is purely comical.

With respect to the Biden thing that Airport mentioned, Biden dropped out of a presidential campaign because of his plagiarism. I'm not suggesting that Mrs. Trump do the same, only that it isn't correct to say that Biden got a pass for doing the same thing.

It appeared to me as someone that hasn't had to write a speech like that before grasping for examples of what to do.

Either she wrote it and no one bothered checking it, which I can see happening, or some rube working for her wrote it and didn't bother checking it.

Either way it's absurd that it happened.

When it's that close in content and phrasing and order, someone used that as a guide. If it was Mrs. Trump, I can see how someone editing it might not catch it. Trump's not going to fire his wife ... yet. If it was a speech writer, that person should be looking for his life's work now.

You got that right, only not the way you wish. Stay on top of this important issue. Thantks.

You missed the point. The issue isn't the plagiarizing. Sure, it makes Trump look like a hypocrite after railing on Biden doing it. But, as has been seen, Trump's supporters don't hold him accountable to the same standard that they hold others. So, that is a non-story.

The issue is that the lingerie model and campaign manager have now lied about it. Instead of a simple "yes, much of Mrs. Obama's speech contained the same thoughts and goals of Mrs. Trump, therefore she wanted to share the same sentiments," the campaign has blatantly lied about it.

It's yet another example in a painfully long list of incidents that has made this "campaign" of Trump's look more like a satirical version of a reality show.

How do polls arrive at Among Evangelicals, Blacks(men and women subsets), Whites(and the subsets), Hispanics(not sure they've earned their subsets yet), LBGYNs(do they have subsets?) Do pollsters ask? Maybe they should ask what participants are identifying at the time the poll is being taken. I want to be a pollster. I'm looking for hetero females (the real kind, not self identifiers) of voting age, minimum; any race; 4-12% body fat.
