It needs 86,000 signatures, and has some notable supporters included some conservative lawmakers as well as the president of Christian Living Magazine.

You ain't lyin'. Coming from someone with a spinal cord injury I'd be first in line. I've talked to several of my DRs about it and most agree it'd do me more good than anything they can currently prescribe.

My Dr is from Colorado. He said if it were legal in MS he'd prescribe it.

I'm working for an opioid crisis research group. With all that's going on, I don't see any reason why a state shouldn't have it.
What a coincidence, I work with a bunch opioid crisis research test subjects. They are absolutely worthless, back in the day I knew some dudes hitting acid that weren't as useless as this bunch of Tabby Tab eaters.

My sister from Colorado brought my aunt some medical help from home. My aunt would have probably died going through chemo if my sister hadn't brought her something.

I don't see how any Christian thinks a man created chemical that is less effective is better than what God already created.

What kills me is so many bible thumpers that are dead set against it but have no problem visiting the tobacco store on a weekly basis. I'm like do you not think the same God that created one plant didn't create the other.. Bc of nerve pain when I get still I have trouble sleeping, had a buddy bring me back $100 worth of product, from his Denver vacation, best rest I've had in a long time. But you can say $100 doesn't go as far as it used to.

I'd hope but in most cases it's not until they have a loved one

or them themselves that nothing else helps then they miracously see the light. But hopefully that's starting to shift. I never thought I'd live to see it get close to the ballot, and I'm only 35. I mean there are pros and cons to everything. For centuries beer and wine were the only safe way for most to drink water and now thousands are killed by drunk drivers. We each get one body and we may hafta answer some day for what we put into it.

But what if putting putting something controversial into said body be it an 80yr old with cancer or a 16yr old who had a life changing wreck allows ones family to get ease from suffering along with the individual, allows one to get meaningful quality out of the short time we have on this rock, or better yet allow one to get back to being a meaningful contributor to society? Lord knows it sure beats the hell out of opioids in a world of situations.

What's the real reason?

Supporting the private prison industry. Find a politician that is heavily against legalization and you'll likely find one that has investments in or receives donations form the private prison industry. Beer lobby is against it too because they dont want the competition.

I get it, baby steps. That said, MS will totally screw up medical to cover their *** with the conservative Christian demo. I’m sure it will only be for those with terminal illnesses and won’t be widely available. This should be available to people with any kind of inflammation which includes a wide variety of ailments (arthritis, chrons, psoriasis, etc...).

That or from the drug industry. A plant you can grow so that you don't need their $7 pills is their worst nightmare. And they are pumping a lot of cash at politicians. I wonder why Jeff Sessions is so dead set against it? Hmmm

General legalization, yes; but this is about medical legalization.

One thing that I will never understand is this - It’s ok for doctors to prescribe kids pure Amphetamines in all 50 states but its against the law to prescribe adults cannabis in most states.

Have the medical benefits of marijuana been proven? Presumably that's the argument for not legalizing.

There have even some studies done that have linked it to a few benefits. Most notably pain relief, anxiety relief, and appetite control. In order for widespread acceptance, it would have to go through several years of study that cannot happen currently due to its legal status.

EDIT: After a little more research, it seems the states that have legalized it are ramping up medical research. Such as treating autism among other things.

If you've ever seen someone on chemo before taking cannibas and afterwards then you KNOW it has a medical benefit.

The ***** about cancer is that for years a lot of folks couldn't survive chemo long enough to survive cancer. As this becomes more broadly used the former might become a moot point.

I thought the boys at Ole Miss were studying medical uses.

Might involve volunteer case studies though. **

I didn't say I don't think there are medical benefits. I said that's likely the reasoning behind opposition to its legalization for such uses.

There's a bunch of pills that cost a whole lot more than $7 each. That's about what a cholesterol lowering statin costs. Drug costs are ridiculously out of control.

Are you implying that Jeff Sessions might be dishonest? **

Due to the labeling by the Federal government, it is almost impossible to study it. It is rated as a level 1 drug which is more dangerous than a level 2. Level 2 is drugs like cocaine and meth. So the federal government says Marijuana is more dangerous than cocaine and meth which is ridiculous. The only reason to have it rated this way is to prevent medical studies. Only a handful of labs are even allowed to test with it, Oxford being one of those.

It's hard to wrap your head around what someone against this would be thinking.

But ultimately if someone is against it, they can only fall into 2 categories.

1) they are completely uneducated on the facts
2) they have other, probably financial, motives (like private prisons)

There is literally not any other options for someone against it. So if you are talking with someone against it keep in mind they are either uneducated or greedy/selfish.

Hopefully they are just uneducated. I guess there is a chance they may learn the truth

Nothing should be illegal as long as it doesn't adversely affect another against their will or the likely potential to adversely affect other against their will.

Kill someone while driving while under the influence....off with your head. But as long as you don't harm others....have at it.

But it should still be illegal until an on site intoxication test can be obtained regarding (high) drivers. That has the high potential to advisedly affect others.

Cocaine and heroin users have the absolute right to kill themselves (feed the idiots)...upgrades the genetic pool.

This is about uneducated bias and money. Period. Those who aren't already hoodwinked by the Baptists are influenced by a very, very powerful pharmaceutical lobby.

Some of the baptists are presumably just against recreational drug use, whether marijuana or alcohol or whatever. And they understand that medical marijuana will very likely not be medical marijuana, although if other states can make using sudafed a hassle, it seems like we could regulate marijuana to where it would actually be easier to procure on the black market than find a doctor to prescribe it (although of course that would probably negate a lot of the benefits).

Pretty 17ing heartless on their part and I suspect very few people with a close relative or friend who has gone through Chemo are like, 17 that guy, I'd rather him suffer than make it easier for people to use recreational drugs.
