My Grandmother is in a nursing home and she is set up with a life estate. In that is mineral rights to to a small acreage that a couple companies are trying to lease for 3 years for $6500. My parents are concerned that if she gets more than $2,000 it will knock her off Medicaid that helps pay for the nursing home. Is there a way around this?

Good question Deepfork. My understanding is that Medicaid will take anything above $2000 in the bank account and you can not gift to keep it at that amount.
