seems like blood transfusions would aleviate the problem if its truly the problem...it said as much in the article (minus the hyperbaric chambers).

These drugs work by decreasing the acidity of the endosomes that exist within the cells. If you recall from biology that endosomes work to take in outside material and digest within the cell. However, SARS-CoV-2 enters via a spike protein that attach to a receptor cell on the surface of human cells. But, in order for chloroquines to be relatively effective, a high dose must be utilized.

A higher dose may be particularly harmful to those with heart conditions or other co-morbidities... and considering that is a high risk population for COVID-19 already... there is a higher level of risk and gamble when using the medication. Early studies have suggested that it does decrease viral loads in nasal swabs, but the study was not randomized and did not report on outcomes such as patient death rate.

medium.com and fox news, think I will stick with the experts.

"It isn't something the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about, because we have ways of preparing and screening of people coming in [from China]," National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Anthony Fauci told "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y., per The Hill.

Dude you are doing this way wrong. There are only two choices: this is a miracle drug that cures coronavirus, or its no good and people are going to go blind if they take it. Stop introducing evidence based medicine into this debate. Also I dig that avatar.

I don’t understand why this is being pushed so hard for and so hard against. I mean I do it’s politics.
Let’s let the scientists figure this one out not Don from Queens or Nancy I Call her Nancy from San Fran.

Having doctors on the news shows pushing for and against is dumb.
Again just **** stirring politics. Do the trials and use it as last result until trials are done.

Thank you. I doubt folks will actually listen to what you are saying, but this whole chloroquine thing has gotten completely insane. It is not a safe drug for a whole lot of the folks who are most at risk from CV19.

Experts.
In January Fauci said that coronavirus was not a major threat to the people in the US.

Experts said the death rate would be at 3.4%.

The experts told us that it was impossible for the virus to be passed from a human to an animal.

Experts said that there was no need for the general public to wear face masks when out in public if you are healthy.

The experts said that young people were very low risk. In NYC a large population of those hospitalized were younger than 40.

Two weeks after The White House urged ppl to social distance and not gather in groups of 10, the experts at the CDC still had on their website to only avoid groups of 50 or more.

The experts obviously didn’t make above a 24 on the ACT.

I think we're at the point where HCQ's proven effectiveness and Trump's reelection chances are tied together. And it's mostly the media's doing.

Anyone saying it is not a safe drug is lying.

Thanks to China not being transparent from early on, we haven’t really had time to do large scale controlled testing. Granted that thus far the only evidence of it working is anecdotal, but for every doctor I’ve seen or read that has discounted the effectiveness of the drug, I’ve seen two interviewed that are convinced that their patients would not have survived without the drug.

And I’ve followed the coverage on multiple networks and publications. Yes the drug may be risky for those with serious underlying conditions, but so is getting covid and winding up in the ICU with those underlying conditions.

Once on ventilators, only about 20% ever come off them. So at that point is the drug really a risk at all to those people? There is enough anecdotal evidence to conclude that the odds of it helping are probably greater than 20%.

I’m not necessarily putting y’all in this category but what is sad is those have seemed to be rooting for it not to be effective in a not so veiled fashion.

Yeah, let's not give it to people who are almost for sure going to die from Covid-19 complications because we're not sure the chloroquine won't possibly kill them, even though there appears to be plenty of anecdotal evidence it has saved many lives. Why would anybody choose possible death over likely death?***
