Just keeps keeping on. Class rank 30th and 19 of their 20 commits are already signed.

The early signing period helps the lower tier schools and mid tier schools a lot more than the top 10 schools. This way when the big boys dont get those two or three players that two or three schools might be counting on they dont steal a player from the next tier schools and then it keeps going on down the line. This early period is a great thing IMO.

Some of the top schools seem to be doing quite well today

This early signing period may be working out better than expected for many programs.

Just not our program. LOL. And that's not fair to say since we had a coaching turnover.

One thing I do love about the early signing period is that it pushes coaches to recruit during the football season. We average 1 commit during the season under Mike and Bo. It's like they waited to do the heavy pushing for before and after the season. And I get it. A man only has so much time in one day. But still, there should be more than 1 commit during the season of play with all the kids taking official visits.

I think our staff is doing about as well as could be expected so far. They inherited, what, 6 solid commitments?

I'm excited to see what they can do with a full year of recruiting to Nebraska, and actually getting to host these recruits on gameday weekends. I'm guessing we'll see a Top 25 class next year.

oh, I agree. I'm just saying if you have a kid who is a 5* and is picking between 3 or 4 schools and all those schools believe he is theirs and when he picks 1 (a week or two before signing day) the other 2 or 3 will pooch a high 4 star kid from a lower tier school a week or two before signing day. So that means you have 2 or 3 schools each picking a 4 star off a second tier school. It then keeps going down like a snowball down hill. That is my point.

What this early signing period does is help less kids flip at the last minute because schools can say, if you dont sign today we are moving on. Give power back to the schools. Thats all I meant.

The programs with change in new Head Coach and Coaching staffs like ourselves may find it more difficult because not enough time to develop relationships.
Yep, the fan base is just going to have to be patient. The main thing will be to not sign a large class filled with questionable prospects. I, for one, will be elated with getting the stud QB and a few others today. Then filling out a small class in the spring. 20 would be great, but I could live with 15 if that means that, going forward, this staff will be able to bring in 20+ recruits in each of the following years.

It’s a small example but Michigan poached a kid from Michigan, that was committed to Iowa two days ago. He would have signed today if not for the home town school coming in late.

who ultimately controls the BIG West will almost always come down to how skilled your staff is in evaluating and developing 3* talent

We have (5) 3.5*. Have we ever signed that many low level 3*’s?!?! Crazy!!

And 1 kid Frost and staff made a priority. But I am sure that will be blamed on Riley, so it doesn't count. Riley should have trashed all the recruiting work on the way out, that's what the fanbase loves from a "Nebraska guy"
