People are tired of being scared, Keenan. This virus sucks but we can’t lose the whole damn country in the process.
Wow. You sure have taken an about-face on the covid topic.

Welcome to the club

I am struggling to see the difference between colleges reopening and drawing kids from all over the region/country to their campus/town and a sports team travelling to another region to play.

If we are shutting down sports due to this concern (which is a valid concern), I don't see how colleges and universities can stay open when the face the same concerns.

Is there a difference? It’s the same concept outside of possibly having more testing available. As long as it can be done and trusted I can support it but that’s the challenge. And no, I’m not one of those scared of the world types I just think you have to draw a line with the youth. One is too many to me.

Florida case numbers declining every day. Viruses usually burn themselves out. I feel confident saying we will be talking about minimal cases of virus by October and be looking around wondering why pulled the plug on everything...

Thought the virus would be burned out once warmer weather hit? That was the talking point back in March & April.

Where did you get your medical degree again?

I know of several places across the country that have started. Soccer and baseball for sure

Perhaps but I know my daughters dance class was digital and youth baseball was canceled for my son. I wouldn’t have put them in regardless but that much I can speak to.

Man, I have lived through this **** (just like you) for 5 months now. Two immediate family members got it and were sick as hell. Enough is enough. I still wear my mask and wash my hands, etc. but we are going to lose this country if we don’t get the train out of the station. And no, China didn’t create it in a lab and ‘launch it on us’. Lol

I’m a Panama City Beach, FL resident and I for one have ZERO issue with Ron DeSantis! Voted for him in 2018 over the “progressive“ dude who was found down in Miami involved in a meth fueled orgy and will again 2022.

it’s hilarious seeing out of staters crack on us down here. It’s been full blown summer here since late April, I frequent bars/restaurants and have missed a day of work driving a Sheetrock semi all over FL this entire year. Bring em’ on down!

Wow. OK.

We know where you stand.

Clearly you don’t. I fully support college athletes with isolation and proper testing procedures to try to play football. I’ve even said it in this thread. I think the odds of that occurring at the high school level are slim to none. My livelihood depends on a college football season being played. I think it can be done, I fully support what Brown was talking about yesterday. But it has to be handled with precaution.

Might I add Andrew Gillum is a married guy with kids and this was “Meth fueled orgy With a me escort”

Stuff msm doesn’t include while trashing our Governor, Ron D!

Some people I know that live in Florida feel very differently, but to each their own and that's your right. I'm not even trying to make this political this is simply a statement about making intelligent decisions. If isolated college football programs are going to lose billions of dollars by not playing should we advertise to put kids that make nothing at risk especially by inviting even more people to participate from other areas? Makes zero sense to me.
WTH.... Keenan, are you against playing fall sports? You seemed to have changed your tone.

My question is with the CDC coming out and saying that the seasonal flu is more of a threat to children than Covid why would you hold your kids out of sports? Studies also show that children are less likely to transmit the virus as well. Don't take that the wrong way and think I'm judging the way you parent, thats not my intention, just trying to understand the reasoning

How does anybody get that from what I’m saying? I FULLY sport playing fall sports and hope to see it happen as long as we can guarantee that there are proper procedures in place. I think that will happen at the college level and what Neal Brown laid out to us yesterday makes a lot of sense. I DO NOT believe that will occur at the high school level but even if you do I think inviting kids from other regions to participate is just absent minded behavior. I hope this clears this up.

It’s a difficult question to answer and one we’ve talked about a lot. The range of outcomes with this is truly scary. I saw a seven year old kid died with no underlining issues and that’s enough for me. The fact there is a vaccine for the flu (which trust me isn’t foolproof as I can attest to my kids getting it this year somehow) helps some but the uncertainty is the biggest mental hurdle for me personally. I am not going to get offended for you asking questions, by the way.

Fair enough. I just didn't want you to think I was questioning the way you parent. I was genuinely curious.

Did he invite kids from California or did he state an observation?

Lol. "Mope".

Lets just say that the vast majority of us down here are glad this "mope" is running things right now.
I would say that the "mope" has done a much better job at handling this virus.
Virus Deaths as of today;
New York 32,854
Florida 8,553

Florida has 1/4th the deaths of New York with 1 million more people....The data doesn't lie.

The virus is much more dangerous in a college environment then it is for high school athletes....the high schoolers don't stay in dorms....they are at home.

Mopes = People who want to keep the country locked down.

That’s so far from how I feel I can’t even begin but this has completely gone off the rails from what I intended so I’m just stepping out. I just hope it goes well for all involved.

Wow. College programs with all of their resources and ability to isolate players are pulling the plug on things and this mope wants to welcome more people.
It is our state and our governor. We can and will make our own decisions about our own state and how we start sports again. Please stay in the WVU lane. We Florida residents will move however we choose and the governor and leadership will be held accountable based on true facts-not PC BS. I hope WVU plays but if they don't then so be it. I am not here to tell WV state officials what to do. Kindly do that for our fans in Florida

Came back down for a couple weeks to hang out at our winter command post. Locals are hoping most of the BS & negative media from the MSM keeps the New Yorkers where the belong, in the dumpster fire they created in their own state and as far away from here as possible.

That's the way I took his comment...he phrased it a little awkward but I think he was making the point of how important sports is for kids in FL and across the country. I did not take it that he was telling kids from CA to come to FL to play.
