The Sun Belt is the most improved conference in football. In just a few short years it’s gone from being the worst FBS conference to being better than the MAC, better than C-USA, and either on par with or better than the Mountain West.
Pac-12 going to get dropped from the Power 5 because they did not play this year & the Big 12 is going to get dropped because they did play!
ULL is good. I’m glad they’re not on our schedule this year.

Outside of the AAC, the fun belt is as good as any non-P5 league in the country.
Financially yes, better off. But Wins & Losses would be rough...Appalachian State, Arkansas State, South Alabama, Troy, and Louisiana are currently good and building to be better.
Usm just had a tough road no matter what they do. USM has to pick up leftovers from two sec schools in state. ULL has leftovers from one SEC school in state that recruits nationally. USA has leftovers from two, one of whom recruits nationally and one who recruits at least regionally, and they’re in a decent population area. Ark St isn’t in a talent rich region, but only has one sec school in state.
Clemson is taking care of Woke Forest. Haven't checked on Ga Tech/Fla State recently.

Arkansas State, and even Central Arkansas to some extent, get a lot of the pretty good football players from Arkansas that are just on the cusp of getting an Arkansas/SEC offer but don't quite make it. Sometimes it's pretty obvious that it was a mistake for the Hogs not to offer lol. A lot of east and south Arkansas kids play at small, rural schools and don't get scouted much or receive much attention but they end up at one of those schools and do well. Plus stAte probably gets a few leftovers from the Memphis area since they are pretty close by as well.
Two of our better recent players, WR Drew Morgan and LB Dre Greenlaw (now starts for the 49ers) were committed to Arkansas State before we flipped them at the last minute.
They should be used to it. Old Man Snyder always dropped games to FCS schools, then he'd go 10-2. Damnest thing I've ever seen.
Mike Leach has done a little of that too.
This is very underrated in college football, and some people just don't get it. It's good for the game to play regional rivalries across conferences too, even in the SEC. More fans care about MSU vs. USM/Memphis/Tulane than they do Coastal Carolina.
The marquee games get the TV slots, but the regional rivalries get local fans interested, and THAT is what really drives the sport and ultimately feeds the beast that creates TV ratings.
Yep. I remember when people bragged on Mullen about winning the games he was supposed to and winning a few he wasn’t.
