Tough crowd...

I’m glad he said it at all! It wasn’t that long ago that someone in his shoes didn’t say anything other than ‘bye!’ I’m glad he’s sticking around and doing what it takes to change his position HERE as opposed to elsewhere. That shows me the culture continues to be changing for the better, which is a good thing.

Oh adults expect every teenager to just “get it” from the beginning and not have to learn and grow as individuals. Got it. Some of you are so out of touch it isn’t even funny. I’m sure 19 year old all of you had it all figured out, mature and ready to earn your place in the world from day 1.

This ^.
We need guys committed to improving their situation in house by grinding away whenever they’re not in the position they envisioned for themselves. Wish Jaevon the best in his effort. Props to him for not giving up like so many others.

Back when we were really good, the program always had 4th & 5th year players who rose up to finally play well. I think that patience, overcoming injury, development, etc. has to be a part of the equation at NU. The "prove it right away or leave" mentality is more of a trait of the last 15 years or so when losing 4-8 games a year is the norm.

Agree. Glad he decided that his status wasn’t good enough for him and wants to improve it. Good on him. As you said, he could have just packed it in. Still think spring is the time to “decide” this as that is the real time to get better.

How do you know he didn’t mentally already decide that in the spring, and he’s just now posting this to the public? IDK. Good on him though like you said.

I don’t. Just going by when he posted it. Could just be him saying “I busted my *** this summer to get better, now it’s time to show it”

Whatever.

My point was that if he is waiting until fall camp to come to that conclusion, he missed the boat. The time to really improve is over the spring and summer

Maybe the decision was made back then but he wanted to make sure his recovery was on track before he made a statement. Sometimes we're a bit quick here to pass judgement based on one minut twitter post. So what if it took him till now, each thing in our lives starts somewhere once we see it. It's a positive statement, cheer him on and hope he acheives it.

Go get it Jaevon@Yaboyjae19!

The kid is a sophomore and has had some injury problems. Would be easy to shut down after having come into the program as a high flyer, only to fall to Earth. Frost and Walters will not quit recruiting receivers and WR is a position where a kid can play early if he gets what Walters is teaching. Looks like Andre Hunt will be getting substantial playing time as a RS freshman. Wan'dale will be out there as a true frosh. So unfortunately for McQuitty, he could actually up his game and still get buried on the depth chart.
Perhaps the tweet was a sign that the light bulb has gone on inside of Jaevon's head. Better late than never.
