Would have started tomorrow if we had beat Georgia. Reason he didn’t start vs Georgia was short rest (he pitched Saturday - for some reason. I was thinking he had pitched Friday), so that makes sense. Threw bullpen Wednesday & was best he’s had since the injury. Will have an inter-squad game Saturday & he should be available for regional. Sounds about as good as you could hope for.

Do you think he gets the start Friday to save TV for what is hopefully the Saturday winner’s bracket game?

I think that makes so much sense. 4-seed, should score some runs, great opportunity for him to build some confidence. Win that and win TV’s start, then you have Duke Stone against somebody’s midweek starter….as opposed to him pitching against an SEC Fri or Sat starter like he has in the past 7-8 outings.

Just checked the NCAA Baseball web site. In the words of Ole Diz, ‘we done slud’ into #16.
Talked to a State fan at lunch today (he saw me scrolling SPS at the bar & struck up a conversation). He wants to match up with UCLA, UNC or GA Tech. Can’t say I think he’s wrong. That would be good with me.

I'm fine with anybody from a conference who's letters don't start with S, end in C and have E in the middle.

That’s basically what we agreed on. But if we do match up with an SEC team, hope it’s one of the Texas teams.

If we're going to make any kind of run this postseason, I think that McPherson is going to have to be at the center of it. We may not be in the same category as the Top 8 seeds with him, but we're definitely not without him

Then you're going to be disappointed because he's not going to be able to pitch deep into games. We're going to get three or four innings and that's it. He's rusty and it's going to take some time for him to get back into mid-season form. Problem is, we don't have time.

He’s going to pitch this weekend in an intrasquad game, and probably go 60-70 pitches. Then next weekend he can bump up 80-90 pitches against either the 4 seed or in Game 3, hopefully.

Of course it would take him “some time”, but that clock started 3 weeks ago before the Auburn series. This isn’t Day 0. The Super Regional (if we get there) is when we’re really going to need him at / near 100%….which would be over a month after he started his normal routine again. He still might not make it back to his previous form, but it’s not impossible.

From what Oak said, I think it’ll be pretty close to what you say. Maybe an inning or so less. But it sure sounds like he should be ready for 6 innings minimum by super regional time.

Probably true, but I trust 3-4 innings from him way more than I do from virtually any of our other options not named Tomas
