keep in mind.. Jake Rudock was an NFL quarterback.

and also let me say... after watching Michigan last night...
I can't help but wonder if we have the better quarterback between McNamara and McCarthy.

Rudock, on the other hand.. is another story... obviously Rudock being a former NFL quarterback, he's already proved himself as a great quarterback.
so I wonder if folk out there think McNamara might actually be better than Rudock

Good question, but easy to answer: McNamara by about 99 yards. JR ran a clipboard in the NFL for awhile, I guess, and he was a mediocre QB for the Hawkeyes. JR never led anyone to an undefeated regular season, a Big Ten title, or a spot in the CFP. McNamara did. IMHO, there is no comparison whatsoever. Iowa with McNamara comes out WAY ahead of Michigan with JR.

JR was another example of KF's inability to evaluate QB talent. CJ Beathard was better than JR in every respect on game day, yet it took the threat of transfer for KF to finally play CJ. And, of course, Beathard went on to lead Iowa to a 12-0 regular season and within 37 seconds of a Big Ten title and spot in the CFP.

McNamara, assuming Iowa names a new OC, revamps the offensive scheme, and finds some decent players for the OL, will be great for Iowa. That's all that really matters.

I can't buy that idea that Ferentz doesn't know how to evaluate quarterbacks..
Jake Rudock was an NFL quarterback.... he was good enough to start for Michigan.

its hard to say Ferentz made the wrong decision when that QB ends up starting for another team and playing in the NFL.

both Beathard and Rudock are great quarterbacks.. you really can't make a wrong decision here, imo.

Winning is a team effort and what a player does in the NFL can have little relation to how good they are in college. Beathard also lead us to a 8-5 season in 2016. His QB rating against Florida in the 2016 bowl game was 24.4. Not a knock on CJ as he was an excellent QB. To say he was better than JR in every aspect of the game is quite the stretch.

Sure Kirk can't evaluate QB talent as he had two big ten starters on his team and Rudock had a 137.8 QB rating at Michigan to CJ's 139.6.

I hope you are right on the last comment but the only one I see happening is the OL part. I do think they can get an OL or two in the portal and with that experience, it would help. I am unsure whether anything happens at OC. I want it to but I just don't know if they will. And depends on what you mean by revamping of the offensive scheme. May see a few tweaks but I don't see anything major changing there. If I'm wrong, I'll be very happy

Jake's game at UM elevated statistically...which even Kirk would say shouldn't come as a surprise given the level of talent on the UM roster annually compared to the level of talent on the UI roster annually. Jake "better" than Cade? It all starts up front. At UM, Cade played behind an O-line that won the Joe Moore Award and spent a good portion of each game handing off to all-Big Ten RB...as we witnessed in Indy.
