But you presumably get him for 2 years. That makes a huge difference in my mind. Play him behind a transfer Big next season, with the idea of him being a really good Center piece his sophomore season.

I agree that bringing in 6 freshmen is not per se a bad thing if at least 4 of them are expected to be multiple year core guys.
They could, but that is not the universe we operate under with Cal. This is a universe that includes Whitney starting over IQ, the most glaring example of a multitude of other lineup debacles.
But isn't that the point? He still needs to be better than the Soph, Juniors and Seniors?

A lot of recruiting rankings are a sham. All depends on what part of the country you play in, which shoe company your AAU team signed with, or how long you’ve been in the AAU circuit.
I won’t be surprised if Cyril backs out and go elsewhere. (I do NOT have any info, but just guessing.)
I do think JQ ends up being our most productive freshmen next year. He has the mature body ready to contribute.
