Cal needs to have an uncomfortable conversation with Quaintance and have him look elsewhere. We don’t need a 16-17 year old kid on the court next year. We are at 6 scholarships and need portal kids more than anything (obviously).
But you presumably get him for 2 years. That makes a huge difference in my mind. Play him behind a transfer Big next season, with the idea of him being a really good Center piece his sophomore season.

You don’t realize just how good he is, that’s ok. I’ve watched him for a few years but really watched him this past season. He will challenge for a starting spot. Remember this post

I hope I’m wrong. Just a knee-jerk reaction. I guess it’s probably a conversation to have with one of the lesser 6. We just don’t need 6 freshman.

6 Freshman wouldn't be horrible if I could count on at least 4 staying. It's the fact they all going to the NBA or getting poached.

So if is that is the case just go get some transfers.

He’s a lot like Trey Lyles but with a better jumper and better defense. Also says something that he’s only 16, reclass ex, and still ended up ranked 12-14 depending on which scouting service you look at.

That means at 16 he’s better than 99% of the 18 year old bigs in this class

Six returnees/portal veterans are enough as long as they are the top six in the rotation.

Make the Freshmen take their spots from vets like it use to be.

Ron Mercer came off the bench as a Freshman and he was the top ranked recruit in the nation.

Earn your spot!

They could, but that is not the universe we operate under with Cal. This is a universe that includes Whitney starting over IQ, the most glaring example of a multitude of other lineup debacles.

His ranking comes from the summer where he's playing against the other top players in the country.
Cooper deserves his ranking. His peers will tell people and eye balls tell you 😂😂. Don’t mind the people here, if the player is elite and going somewhere else, he’s always over ranked. Go see “fat Zion” posts right before his freshman year

It won't be too much longer till the UK and Dukes of the world will quit relying on 5 star freshman.... it's coming. Once they keeping seeing Uconn and every random mid major make a run in the tournament.

The star system really needs an overhaul. There are too many guys in this game that shouldn't be MCDAA. Low IQ, poor shooting forms, these guys can just run and jump that's it.
A lot of recruiting rankings are a sham. All depends on what part of the country you play in, which shoe company your AAU team signed with, or how long you’ve been in the AAU circuit.

I won’t be surprised if Cyril backs out and go elsewhere. (I do NOT have any info, but just guessing.)

I do think JQ ends up being our most productive freshmen next year. He has the mature body ready to contribute.

Tell me again how Cal screwed up Ian Jackson’s recruitment. We could sure use him. He was supposed to be a lock for us. Really quick and fast and good.

He’s college ready with his frame. I’m just thinking IF we have Bradshaw, Z, Ugo, Knox, Cyril, and Quaintance, who’s the odd man out?
