There wouldn't be an announcement if he didn't. Trump is replacing RBG. The only question is before November 3rd or before January 6th.

I don't think he does. If Romney, and the senators from Alaska and Maine decline to vote, or vote no, he won;t have enough.

It will be interesting if Trump offers up a woman, and I think he will.

I’m not certain, but aren’t there 53 Republicans in the Senate? If so, Cocaine Mitch has 50 votes w/o those senators. Even if all 3 vote NO, Mike Pence is Mitch’s 51st vote. I doubt all three vote no. One or two will simply abstain. Even if my #s are correct, it’s clear that Mitch has no room for error beyond the 3.

I suspect this scenario has been war-gamed by each side by now.

I think you are right, Mitch cares more about the courts than anything but normally plays it close to the vest for him to come out this quick stating there will be a floor vote means he has talked to his senators and knows where they stand. I am sure RBG health has been declining all week and at least the power brokers in Washington knew it, and prepared for it.

Collins is for a fight for her seat, if she votes no she likely loses her base-if she votes yes her opponent will use it against her. She is between a rock and hard place. One thing for sure a no vote will guarantee her losing. Trump came close to pulling 3 of the 4 EV for Maine and just might pull it off this time.

Murkowski has already been primaried once, the only way she stays in office is because all the democrats cross over and vote for her, just like her father 20 years ago when I lived there. If she votes no she will get primaried again.

Romney will get the wrath of the Mormons if he votes against a pro life judge which it will be.

Even if all three vote against the selection Pence can break the tie.
