Very difficult to win football games when half of your team has power 4 offers.Going into week 9, MC remains the only undefeated team in 7A and 8A. I'd call that elite.
Ball don’t lie. For sure. The point I’m trying to make is for how lauded this MC team is, you saw a team with 0 “power 4s” play toe to toe with them. Clear that some of these offers are based 90% on the size of the player and maybe 10% on the play. Probably an overstatement but if you watched that game you did not see a clear talent delineation between them.Going into week 9, MC remains the only undefeated team in 7A and 8A. Remember, potential is big with a lot of these offers. I had no problems in high school blocking future college players. Best "offer" I got was St. Norbert's.Ball don’t lie. For sure. You are right that MC hasn't been thrashing its opponents. But the quality of its opposition, from Moeller to Rice to Fenwick, has been pretty high, and the defense has risen to meet the challenge all season long. ESL may be the only other Illinois team capable of beating Moeller, and no one quibbles about the Flyer's level of talent. An objective observer saw greatness in MC's goal-line stands against Brother Rice. And on Friday, in the fourth quarter, when Fenwick had the ball and the momentum, the Caravan defense shut them down with a fumble and recovery. This is where they are right now, making mistakes and making adjustments and doing what it takes to win. They will continue to improve and will thrash whoever they meet in the finals.Ball don’t lie.
