Always a nice mix of transfers and homegrown. Rice is welcome to slug it out with us. Will MC get a few more goalline stands?
Transfers are fine but do they really need anyone? 12 returning starters, 5 of them high D1, and a Fresh and Soph team that went a combined 18-0.....plenty of talent in the building to fill the needed holes left by graduation.

Yeah, but our transfers have been outstanding: Maurice Densmore, Jamari Brown, Claude Mpoupa, Roman Igwebuike, Cooper Lehman, and Dean Kemph.

Least you own it unlike other caravan posters lol do we really need it? All your transfers have been significant contributors to your success. Could you have won state without some of them if not all? Yeah more than likely.

Seems like the right guys are coming into the school day 1. You’d think the transfers would slow down because there isn’t many gaps. But the teams success and those transfers individuals success is just driving more there. No coach will say no to that but there comes a point where you want to limit It when necessary.

I dont think any coach is going to turn away guys who want to come there and could contribute. It creates depth, and most importantly, competition.

Maybe MC will get a NW commit to transfer to MC soon so he can help NW recruit the #1 class for 2027

NW has one commit for the 2027 class and it's a TE. If you're talking Abrams, I don't see NW being in the running.

@KasanteMC : Dean Kemph doesn't count. He is a legacy.

Why did Kemph, who played brilliantly against LWE and Oswego, wait until his senior year to transfer?

100% guess here, he went to IC his first 3 years so I'm guessing he lived in that area and didn't want to commute that distance for 4 years. Easier when you can drive on your own vs taking a school bus and less hectic to put up with it for a 1 school years vs. 4. Again just a guess.

No. Do what Nebraska did and get a big recruit to move closer for his senior year so he can recruit for them.

And they have another Dowling coming in this season....full circle Elliott then Dowling....now another Elliott then Dowling (Possibly)
Well I did grow up in a Irish Catholic neighborhood! I'm 1 of 5!
There seems to be a limitless supply of Dowlings and Elliots. Those parents need to learn to play rummy or something.

And there is a 5th Dowling brother coming in a couple years!

@USD24 how many Van Tassel brothers were there? Seemed like for a decade there was one who played for JCA and all killed MC
There seemed like COM had about 20 Brennan brothers. They must have grown up in a neighborhood like ours?

Are there any more Thies brothers going to Fenwick? I hope not. That’s the stuff ESL Flyer nightmares are made of…

Do you know how recruiting works? Whoever reached out to this kid absolutely played to his ego and pumped him up as the next big thing and talked about all the D1 kids that come out of MC.

Times have changed since yesteryear. Developing in a program and biding your time until it's your turn are gone.

Parents just keep getting worse and worse! Good luck to all these kids once they leave home!

Maybe so, but MC usually gets a nice crop of transfers.
"Crop of transfers"? How do HS coaches instill loyalty today? Do they give rousing speeches about loyalty and then go into the coaches room and plot a target transfer list?

No, they talk about "come here and we will set you up for NIL money at next level".

Lynch really knows how to develop talent to fit his system. There are plenty of guys on the roster who came in with zero stars as freshmen and now they’re sitting at four stars. That doesn’t happen by accident. He’s doing a great job — definitely an awesome coach.

LOL

Roughly 3% of hs football players go D1 and less than 1% get NIL money.

The sales pitch is “if you come here we will help you reach your full potential better than any other program”.

All this NIL $$$ is blown out of proportion.

LOL, yes because teenage boys get motivated and transfer because someone talked up their potential.

Selling them on potential future riches and exposure to top colleges at the top levels is far more likely. Then there's the fact that NIL is also legal in Illinois at the high school level.

and what does that do? It increases college interest. And what does that do? It increases the chance of NIL. It’s all tied together.

I agree that the transfer portal undermines the lofty concepts of team, brotherhood, and commitment, but if a kid wants to transfer--and I understand that these are kids--I'd rather he go to Carmel than Loyola.

Here's one. Taylor openly said he transfered to a Nebraska HS to help recruit and for NIL opportunities.

You also think the QB from Plainfield East just up and decided to transfer to MC without being contacted by Lynch? There's also been a number of private to private school transfers, you think all those were based on coaches pitching them on their potential?

It's not remotely the same landscape that it was 10-20 years ago, It's monkey see, monkey do and kids see all the college players doing it for more money so HS kids are doing the same and the IHSA, much like the NCAA, appear to be turning a blind eye.
