Back in.Did Dupree come back in? Thought I saw that he hurt his ankle
Did you sit next to @FBFANMOM?Great game BR. Good game plan with Brown, as I said above MC hadn't faced that type of mobile QB yet and it caused them to adjust, I think they were prepared for Hartz. Great job MC! Win is a Win is a Win. Every season I've watched MC over the past decades, even our best teams have close games. We needed this, until this week, starters were out either at half or in the 4th, they handled the challenge well.....rivalry game on the road, things like this happen. Another great game by Dowling....3 TD passes and 1 TD run....Very comparable season to what Lausch had last year at this point....21 TD passes, 4 TD runs in 6 games. Keep it up Blainey!
From what I was told, it was a very close competition between all 3 juniors with Hartz coming out as the better passer, Brown the better read option type and Dugger being a good combo but they the decided to go with a 1 and 1A with the first two after the scrimmage.BR Fans, Dugger is a good QB....he went to MC his freshman year and started during the Spring season....I think with Dowling getting the reigns his junior and senior year and the much hyped arrival of Jack Elliott, he thought he might have a better chance somewhere else, but he can play. I saw him his Freshman year and the game he played vs MC as a Soph when he replaced Brown and brought BR back to tie MC....he can run and throw.....not sure what happened in the summer competition.....Brown did give MC headaches tonight but from what I saw on TV his passes were wobbly and a couple of those completions could have gone bad. Not sure that I would hand him the keys yet, he just matched up well with MC tonight. Your strength is your receivers, you need a passer......also, #15 is like 6'8, I'd toss it up to him all night, especially in the red zone or when you need a first. Just my two cents.
Pity the official had to put his stamp on the game with that ineligible man downfield call. I can’t find it
It’s the little thingsUnfortunate because it was a first down but it was the correct call. The BR WR on the MC side was covering the TE on the line. He had to be off the line and was not. Bummer.
MC played their worst game of the year against a big rival opponent on the road and they still won....and they gave BR plenty of chances too. These games happen mid season. Injuries start setting in. MC was missing their D1 LB Parker Startz and their other running back Alonzo Manning, both who have been amazing this year, and they still won. In 2019 MC barely beat Marmion 7-0....the next week, with a couple of banged up players, they barely beat a 1 win De La Salle 28-21 and De was driving to tie the game at the end (very similar to the BR game last night except BR was a much better team). This board went nuts with the “MC isn’t that good” talk....end result 14-0, State Champs.Interesting game for MC. We know it’s a rivalry game and all but BR isn’t the best team we have seen from their program. BR played MC pretty even and I have to question this MC team. Someone indicated in other threads this MC team is the best ever? This game made the MC/LA game in week 9 even more interesting. I am taking nothing away from the Caravan because a win is a win but BR made me pump the brakes. I am also wondering just how good is Loyola? Last nights game was close and the St. Xavier losing record is making LA’s blowout win on ESPN look less attractive. IMO the MC/LA game is shaping up to be an epic game. I respect both programs, but after last nights games a lot of questions to be answered by both teams. Week 9 becomes even more intriguing.
That’s why it’s an intriguing game. Two good teams going at it. It should be a great game.MC played their worst game of the year against a big rival opponent on the road and they still won....and they gave BR plenty of chances too. These games happen mid season. Like I said they played poorly, they will learn from it, that’s what good teams do. And take nothing away from BR, they played real well. They are a talented team who had no pressure and nothing to lose and those are dangerous teams to play, they were ready. These starters haven’t played a full game all year or been in real danger all season, they got that last night and hopefully will build on it! They have two cross over games that they will be heavily favored against Laurence and Viator before the big week 9 match up....they will be ready for the Ramblers. MC beat Marist 42-7 and it could have been 56-7. LA struggled with Marist....flip side LA man handled BR by 35 while MC struggled.....you just don’t know what your gonna get in this wonderful game.
Mobile QBs give many teams headaches. And the trade offs in the passing ability can be mitigated by practicing and executing 5 pass plays: rollout run/pass option with level routes from the WRs, swing to RB, pa slant over the LBs, 4 verts (if it’s intercepted it’s a punt), and fade in redzone aided by tall WR. 100 times Tuesday, 100 times Wednesday, rest arm on Thursday all the game reps on Friday. QB keeping it when nothing else is available is such an edge. And I am only talking about, for example, Alek Thomas catch-me-if-you-can mobile or truck-like-1st-down-maker Pete Balsam mobile, not just good feet in the pocket, decent runner mobile, I’m talking difference maker mobile.BR Fans, Dugger is a good QB....he went to MC his freshman year and started during the Spring season....I think with Dowling getting the reigns his junior and senior year and the much hyped arrival of Jack Elliott, he thought he might have a better chance somewhere else, but he can play.
