I'm not convinced our basketball roster is in that bad a shape as everyone was making it out to be the other day. From everything I've read/seen of Deivon Smith he's the type of player that starts day 1. Molinar and Stewart are future stars. Ado is as solid as it gets. That only leaves Tulu Smith as the wildcard at the 4. If he's ok we still have a very talented starting 5. Howland just needs to add 2-3 players for depth. Hit up the jucos or grad transfers and we are fine. We have 8 months before game 1. Certainly Cameron Mathews and maybe even Quinten Post are a little better than people are expecting right now.

Howland never plays more than 8-9 guys anyway.

I said almost exactly the same thing in a thread a coue of days ago and got not a single response ,but I am the Misfit. We got a commit from a small forward named Andersson Garcia. Don't expect a lot from him next season, but who knows.

Uh check out his twitter timeline and this stat line against Memphis East. Memphis East is pretty good competition for HS.

Looks like Garcia is the 2nd or maybe the best player on a very talented Hamilton Heights team that has at least a Florida commit a New Mexico commit along with a MSU commit now in the starting 5.

Next season is not going to be very good, but with losing 3 legacies and Nick, I would take the NIT next year for sure. Probably what we would have got this year with those 4.

We need a Lawrence Roberts and Shane Power BAD. Maybe Smith is that guy, but we need another.

My comment had a couple meanings.
1- we signed a 0 star unevaluated player(how is he unevaluated?) so who knows how ready he is to play right away, but at least its a body on the team.
2- even if he is a contributor, we need more than just one commit.

Idk why he hasn't been evaluated but he holds offers from KSU, Florida and Bama along with other P5 schools and his stats are more eye popping than Ado & Varnado who both went to the same school as him. Hamilton Heights in Chattanooga. Looks like Howland has stolen one here. Nobody fire him just yet.

im not as worried in today's transfer world it's easy to fill out a roster ...especially if the new transfer rule passes...
I just hope enough of the people who have tickets between the baselines and who don't show up will be fed up and not renew their tickets. I'll slide around and will make sure my seats will always be filled

Yea if Quinten Post can be productive it'll be huge. He's a big dude. He's from the Netherlands and played on their national team I believe. He's not some scrub walk-on.

It’s interesting to me that you got downvoted because even 17-13 could easily be viewed as optimistic.

We finished 20-11 last year during the regular season. Since then, Carter graduated, we lost Perry, Woodard, and Nick to the Pros, and 5 more decided to transfer. For those counting, that’s NINE losses which is damn near unprecedented.

People keep talking about how losing guys to the transfer portal is the new norm, but the question is... who has Howland prepared to move into these spots? Well, in the last 3 combined recruiting classes, Howland signed 10 kids, and he’s now lost 7 of them. Call it dead weight or the allure of the NBA all you want, but these were Howland’s recruits and any way you look at it, it’s awful.

So now we’ve got to replace 4 of our top 5 guys, 81% of the scoring, and a severely depleted bench. With what? A freshman PG and a transfer that most have never even seen play?

This team is going to be awful next year guys. There’s no sugar coating it, and 15-15 will be nothing short of an amazingly pleasant surprise.

There’s really no way around it, but the blind optimism has been flowing freely lately. It almost reminds me of the “anything’s better than Stansbury” posts we saw years ago up until people got a taste of what that actually looked like

He played for their U-20 national team. There's a big difference. Generally only a couple of players on a youth team will ever make it to the adult national team. Not saying he can't be a decent player for us, but it's not like we signed some European superstar.

I just came here to say that this post is right on target.
