Well, Rick Pitino has said he never wants to coach at a P5 school again and he's going to retire at Iona.
Sean Miller is going to have some heat on him for a while so nobody's gonna touch him.
Don't think we would touch him but if you are ranking, Rick Pitino is probably one of the 2 best college basketball coaches of the last 35 years. Coach K would be the other.
As good as RP is at coaching basketball - and he is one of the best - he is even better at hyperbole.

(1) It was an easy thing for him to say because he wasn't on IU's radar
(2) It would have been fun for IU to call his bluff and float him an offer, but they couldn't risk him taking it.
Four of the best 15-20 jobs in college basketball have come open in the last month and he didn't get a whiff at any of them. And unless a lower tier job is in a place he wants to live - ie Iona - he's not likely to be interested.
So, again, very easy thing for him to say.
I get that it's an easy thing for him to say. And it gives him some deniability when some of the big boys don't give him a sniff.
Coaches say hyperbolic stuff all the time, from Calipari's "why would I go to Kentucky when I have everything I want at Memphis," all the way back to Tuberville's "when I leave Oxford, it will be in a pine box." But this sounded different to me. Pitino's been through the ringer in his personal life and has some significant NCAA baggage. At this age, him saying that he's over all of the big program drama is believable to me.
Saw a coaching video he made when he was still at Providence and Billy Donovan was one of the two players he used to demonstrate. It was a really good video.
