#7 seed in Lunardi’s first bracketology for 2019-20. Jon Rothstein also has us in his early top 25. I know this will disappoint many, but we’ll be good this upcoming season.

I am optmisitic

Losing Q will obviously be tough. But I really like our high end talent and think we have a chance to be really good at the 4/5 position. I also think we realized how important Nick Weatherspoon was to our basketball team down the stretch. I think Tyson, Nick and Woodard can be effective at the 1/2/3. I think Woodard and Perry make that freshman to sophomore playing level jump.

My question mark is the depth.

With Nick back, I like our starting 5 a lot. It’s really depth or more specifically, a lot of untested talent that scares me.

I’m confident that Howland will find 2-3 guys to step up out of the bunch that he has, but if I had to question one thing, it would be his apparent lack of desire to go grab a PG transfer or Juco prospect for this season. We are uncomfortably thin there, and if anything at all prevents Nick from playing virtually the entire year, we’ve got problems

Yea, I had forgotten about all those Final Fours that Stansbury had led his former team to before he got the HC gig at MSU.****

I am thinking right along those lines as well. Our starters will be fine. I think DJ Stewart will be a pleasant surprise. He can really shoot it.

I too was surprised we didn't chase a PG. Hopefully, that means Howland is confident Molinar can handle the backup duties.

Carter at point is...huh. He is a player that can handle some point and set up a play. I dont think he is a player that can consistently beat his man off the dribble, collapse a defense, and kick or finish.
Hope I am wrong.

Who said anything about Carter at PG? He will be the starting SG and NW will be our PG.

No question that this team will be slower, but bigger/stronger. And that is OK, ask Virginia.

I am really looking forward to seeing how Woodard and Perry play with a year under their belt. If Ado makes an equal jump this season that he did from his first to last season, we might have some serious scoring chances inside. It has been so long since we have had any tough post play. Maybe that will help our perimeter play since the defenses will have to watch our post more carefully than they have the past two years.

Hoping for a pleasant surprise there

Tyson got a lot better in all those areas during the last off-season. I still prefer to see him at the 2, but if he has continued to work this off-season, I don't think he will be a liability at point if he ends up being Nick's primary back-up.
