Maybe just wishful thinking

And who was courted by Florida, Tennessee, Florida State and Oregon.

This is the big thing too for me. Earlier in the season, it just seemed like he was on the radar simply because he played here. As his team's season played out, he became the hot coaching candidate. If he fails here, it won't be because Nebraska didn't go after the best available candidate (which is something many of us have been wanting since T.O. retired). I have infinitely more confidence in it working because of his pedigree as a player, coordinator and now track record as a coach.

I am also so looking forward to an uptempo style of offense that actually puts pressure on the defense every play rather than huddle or the no huddle but take your time tempo like Bo's teams had. I look forward to seeing the level of conditioning from this year to 3 years from now, should be a night and day difference.

Sorry, but it is wishful thinking. Central Florida didn't go undefeated in the SEC this year, they did it in the Association of Directional Byproducts, or whatever conference that is. All we have going for us right now is potential.

Scott Frost is going to call an option for the first play of the Spring Game, and fans are going to openly weep and cheer. The athletes are going to say they've never worked so hard in their lives, and that things are way different than with the previous staff. Just like they did when Callahan, Pelini, and Riley were hired. As the season begins, former players are going to be everywhere on campus, in the media, and on the sidelines. During a game Tom Osborne will be invited to accept some new award for something, and everybody will clap and cheer. Nebraska is back, we will all scream.

But looking at that schedule, especially the road games, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Nebraska goes 7-5 next season. There is a helluva lot of work to do, and until we see a smart, disciplined, well-coached team on the field, nothing will have actually changed.

7-5 would be a big step in the right direction and anything better than that would be excellent. Next year will be tough.
