Love this kid. Cal loves the kids that have that joy for playing. Usually attracts other 5 star talent.
Self doesn't pick the players, the committee does.
Maxey is quickly becoming one of my favorite recruits in a while. This kid is going to be special
Which Self is part of, but yes it’s not just the coaches only keeping their recruits. They just get to keep some of them, haha.
Coaches have some but not a lot of say. Remember Cal coached last year and Bol Bol was cut while two UK guys were kept
I agree with most here, I really like this kid. Looks to be an elite scorer. I can't remember the player comparison I made with him a while back. Maybe @GonzoCat90 can help me out with this one. I remember he commented on said comparison.
I'm thinking Monk and Knight. Probably not as athletic as Monk but scores in bunches like he can and can play the point like Knight.
I've always said Jamal Murray. He's also a lot like Quentin Grimes that's heading to KU this year.
Decent comparisons there. I'm drawing a blank on my past Maxey player comparison, for whatever reason. He also reminds me of a slightly stronger Fox.
Better shooter than fox though. He can score well at all 3 levels.

A little more athletic Knight would be a dream come true. Don't know if he can get by people like Fox could but is a better shooter. Knight, Fox, Murray and Monk are good players to be compared to. Hope he brings what they brought to the floor.
Yeah... they are all dead or already coached USA ball. Some idiocy deserves to be pointed out.
All things I've read from people privileged to witness the last week or so have been raving about Self's ability to teach and maximize every moment he has with players.
Comments like this make the fan base look petty and childish. If you really believe that, I don't know what to tell you.
To be fair to Cal, this was a rare instance when team USA didn't have the best player in the world, and a few of our best players opted not to go(Zion, Bamba, Bagley).
Same exact questions I've been asking myself, bud. Non UK player that was a lefty. Pretty sure anyway.
