Just watched some of his plays from 2018 and 2019. Dang, why didn't we give that kid a 20th chance? He had the ability to turn a big play more than anyone on the field. He had the burst, vision, and acceleration that you can't teach a RB.
I know everyone thinks he was eating too much Chick-Fil-A, but I am guilty of that as well, and I will not judge. I honestly think if he had stayed with the team it would have been the difference between losing by 1 score and winning by 1 score.

Maurice's problems weren't eating too much Chik-Fil-A.

A guy with his talents doesn't fall off the face of the college football world for no reason. Even Tyreek Hill was given a 2nd chance at West Alabama.

Right? Why hasn’t coach Prime signed him Jackson St. I would guess because Washington burned that bridge too.

The video, to me, was blown way out of proportion. He wasn't in it and didn't record it. He had a relationship with the girl and was probably still upset about it and when she contacted him (not the other way around) he let her know he wasn't going to go back to her (in a very bad judgement way).
Teenagers are warned about not taking inappropriate pictures and videos but they end up doing it anyway and they get shared.
Was it fair to the girl that this video ended up on other people's phones? No.
Did she know the video was made? From everything I've heard, yes. Was there bad judgement all around by several teenagers? Yes.

I agree with you about this, and I was glad Frost didn't cut Washington loose just because of the criminal charges related to the video. But he was given multiple chances to get his act together, and didn't.

I'm as unimpressed as anyone with Frost's tenure at NU, but he got this one right. Washington had to go.

Unfortunately he never would have lasted..probably has a personality disorder and will end up in prison at some point. Great talent. I still have his photo leaping over a MSU player in the snow as my background photo on my computer. Looks like Ja Morant playing football.

One minute you're overindulging on spicy chicken deluxe sammies, the next, you are dragging a sorority girl down a flight of stairs. It's a slippery slope. You got to know where to draw the line

Probably the most gifted player they recruited in their entire time here. Just couldn't get out of his own way unfortunately. That dude was an NFL talent. A shame he just couldn't hold it in the road.

Yeah I think he would have been the best running back since Phillips had he been able to keep it together for a full four years. Maybe not as much top-end speed as Ahman Green, but quicker and shiftier. We haven't had a guy that can go 75 yards for a TD for a while like he could.
Honestly I never heard about too much more than the video criminal case and some personal issues that likely stemmed partly from it. That was a lot to have hanging over his head. The training table stuff was annoying for the staff, but didn't seem to affect him on the field.
Always wanted to hear Frost was still in contact and was going to let him right himself with a return to the team, but that never happened. I know Frost tried.

Not sure if he was an NFL talent, but he was a definite difference-maker for our team.

He was pigeon-toed and could basically cut backwards and had some serious athletic agility. He could contort his body in so many angles it was fun to watch. Barry Sanders-like (obviously not Barry Sanders), and could make a lot of people completely whiff when trying to tackle him. Freakish kind of ability.

Probably wouldn't have ever been fast enough or big enough for the NFL though.

When I say he was an NFL talent I'm talking about his physical skills. His speed, ability to cut on a dime, catching out of backfield, and his vision. All of that was NFL calibur stuff.

What people don't understand is that he wouldn't have been the same 185 pound guy on that 6'1 frame if he took the weight room/training table serious. If that guy stays 3-4 years and lifts/eats accordingly his frame would carry 215-220 pounds easily. With that type size and strength to go along with everything else their is no doubt in my mind he's an NFL RB.

Either way it's all a pipe dream now lol.

The guy was a head case. Most likely we will read about him again some day in the future and it will be in a newspaper and not the sports section. Sad.
