His smartphone got him in trouble with California, not the Husker football team.
It's a shame that he wasted his physical talents, could have had a very successful career IMO. But he made his own choices in the end after having been given several chances. That's life.

Yes, his attitude unfortunately was poison for team unity and discipline.
