Made a $3.8M bet at 10:1 before the playoffs that Houston wins it all. $38.3M if he wins. Started a promotion that anyone that buys a mattress during the playoffs gets their money back. Says business is booming during the promo.

For those not familiar with Mattress Mack he the #1 mattress/furniture dealer in Houston, TX. And he was born in Starkville.

My Dad and I were in the store probably 20 years ago when I lived in Houston. My dad had on his MSU cap. An older guy in an MSU cap yells at him from behind a counter. My dad ends up talking to him for about an hour. Turns out to be Mack’s dad, who I believe played at Mississippi State or at least attended. Turned out they had a mutual friend from Mack’s dad’s time at state. Tee Corley, who lived down the road from my dad growing up in Chickasaw county.

^^^ Mack’s dad played at State. Mack walked on at UT for a year, ended up at North Texas.

Mack is good people. Hardest worker I’ve ever been around.

I'm a native Houstonian and still live in Houston. Mac is absolutely the hardest working person you can imagine. If you go to his main Gallery Furniture location his *** is behind the counter answering the phones and making sure his employees are taking care of customers walking in. That's all day, everyday. He has single handedly done more good for this city than any other one person has. The guy is a legend / hero in this town.
