I was not able to catch what he had to say about the thoughts on campus about who’s leaving and staying. Also two possible people we will add. Can anyone update? Thank you!

In order of likelihood of leaving: SGA, Knox, Hami, Wenyen, Vandy, PJ, Nick, Sasha, Quade. With Vandy on down more likely to stay. Wenyen 50/50 and Knox is apparently not a lock to leave.

His order of likelyhood to leave:

Shai - almost certain.
Knox - very likely but he's very young and his dad was a pro athlete, coming back IS possible.
Hami - likely gone, but could come back
Wenyen - maybe gone, seemed to waffle between putting him in the "my guess is go" and "my guess is stay." He's already 21, so old for a sophomore. Probably ends up overseas if he goes pro.
Vanderbilt - likely back, and it's because of the injury.
Washington - will go to combine, but likely back. Never saw himself as a one-and-done.
Richards - will go to combine, almost certainly back.
SKJ - back unless he decides to transfer (not predicting he will)
Green - back unless he decides to transfer (again, not predicting he will)
Baker - back

Predicting the top 3, maybe 4 go and we'll be great next year if that's all. Starts to hurt if more leave.

If the top four go, it will hurt. Wenyen would be a big loss since we aren’t adding any bigs, and if Knox leaves, WG would be our only stretch forward. Losing the top three would be very manageable because we are replacing all of their core competencies (PG = Quickley; shooting = Quickley/Herro; tough, athletic wing defender = KJ). Lose any more than that and the jury may be out for awhile on whether we’re better or worse next season.

Not one surprise on that list at all. That is pretty much exactly what most on this board think at the moment based on all information.

I understand Wenyen's family situation but man he could really turn into a player and improve the likelihood of getting a shot at the NBA with another year of development.

Two possible players is Wiseman and Jeffries, Hagens will end up at Georgia with Crean and Montgomery is enamored with playing the five at Duke..

What “family situation?” All his other siblings have college degrees/ are educated i do believe ?

What family situation do you speak of? Is there any link, quotes info etc?

How do you have more info than Matt? I would like to know, since you think you know better than him on this scenario
Honestly, just reading what Jones said from this thread - that info is what any UK fan that follows closely would have guessed. Doesn't look like inside info at all.

I agree. Most people could have guessed as much. But wondering how someone on here thinks they know more about Vanderbilt's situations than what Matt knows

If Wenyen leaves to me he is saying I am not going to get any better!!
Yeah, I just don't understand leaving to go play in the D-League or Europe versus staying at UK for another year. He should improve and have much more exposure to NBA scouts at UK. The guys that are first rounders I understand, but the guys that won't get drafted and leave is super frustrating.

Thats not at all what talking heads are saying . Hagans is just waiting for an offer . He gets it from UK he is ours. We lose SGA or Diallo he gets it . Montgomery is likely a Cat if UK loses Gabriel or JV . If we don't lose any bigs we really have no room for more of them . EJ would go to Duke most likely in that instance. Wiseman is still a possibility but that is so far off ( July or August) it isn't worth discussing. Cal has to plan like we don't have him. Jefferies isn't reclassifying . Leque is another possible reclassifying name. It would be a huge surprise for our roster not to have at least one of Hagans , EJ or Wiseman on it next year and 2 out of 3 is more likely.

I mean he said

Knox, Diallo, SGA are probably gonna go...could come back but not likely

Wenyen and Vanderbilt want to go, but will probably be back.

PJ, Quade, Sacha, Baker, and Richards will all be back. Wouldn't be surprised if someone considered transfer, but they'll be back

3 recruits coming in and we are still after Hagans and Montgomery

Nothing really new. I think that's what we all believed. I think he was getting us to temper expectations about Knox coming back to school.

Yeah sounds like "family situation" has exactly zero to do with Wenyen's decision. He may decide "My shot at the NBA isn't getting any better, I'm already a 21 year old adult, I'm ready to start my career wherever I'm playing." He wasn't born in the US, he has talked about moving back to Sudan at some point. He probably doesn't mind going to other countries to play.

That makes sense.

Maybe early on he thought that's what he'd do, but I think his SEC tournament performance changed his mind. The fans love him and he is now the veteran leader on the team. He can/will contribute to a title team if he stays and be an integral part.

I hate playing this game every offseason. Having said that, I have a very good feeling about most of these guys returning. Getting that 2014 feeling. Feel free to blast away.
