I've never seen one fan wish he wasn't here.

This is a large part of the problem. Straw man much?
You're one of the fretting crowd that i get along with, s&c, because I know down to the bone you're for the cats - you are ecstatic on here when Cal succeeds and troubled when we encounter some bumps.

Some other posters, on the other hand, might not explicitly want Cal to leave (though I've seen a small number since the '14 season), but I think it's implicit when they hold him to vastly different standards than any other coach, including the other guys who bring AAs off the bench every year. In my experience, when someone constantly complains about someone based on standards they don't hold anybody else to, they're looking for an excuse to get rid of them.. I see it in relationships all the time. When you're sick of someone on a personal level and you can't rationalize why you dislike them, you look for any old stupid excuse to dump on them.

Cal is like the pretty, smart girl in high school who gets good grades and who treats people well, but there are always a couple of bitter girls sitting in the corner of the cafeteria saying awful things about her for no other reason than that they are sick of seeing her face everywhere and hearing people praise her.

I would bet a considerable sum that most of these people would be dissatisfied no matter who was coaching. Some of them would probably be fine with Pitino.

I don't listen to Matt's show, as I don't have time to anyway. (I am also the exact opposite of Matt; I'm a staunch conservative & abhor liberalism)

That said, I'm glad he called out those who posted that drivel; they certainly do not represent the overwhelming majority of Big Blue fans. I don't agree with every move Cal makes in a game, but I wouldn't trade him for any other coach, period.

This issue with UK fans has occurred in one form or another since Adolph Rupp stopped winning championships. There were people who complained about him being too old and there were people who responded he was Adolph Rupp how could you complain about him. Joe B. Hall took a beating from the fan base over what players he played and when he played them. I remember people yelling for Hall to play more zone. People were upset at Sutton because of his lack of passion and his recruiting wasn't as good as Hall's. Everyone loved Pitino unless you got to know him and you were not part of his circle. Then there is Tubby Smith and we know how that name drives the passions of our fan base. Billy Clyde Gillispie .

Our fan base is passionate. We like winning. The coach is the leader of the team and he will always be a point of contention. We all have high expectations and some have unrealistic expectations. What can anyone really do? Cheer for the team and hope they get better.

If someone actually wants cal removed, fired, or whatever the word, then I can't understand a shred of it. That's just bizarre. I for one hope cal is around another 7-10 years, and I believe he will. I'm not sure, maybe they can chime in and respond, but I don't think cut nets, zaytoven etc actually want him removed. But I guess I could be wrong.

And in any event, Matt calling out a small minority of posters IS what's creating the perception that I don't believe exist. That's my point.

Listen, the best programs have the largest fan bases. Those fanbases are, as a rule, die hards. It goes hand in hand. I don't see the issue. When our fans stop acting like they're dying at the site of anything but greatness, is when the administration saves money. We all know what follows that.

I'm cool with all of our fans. I love the way they lose it. As I said in another thread, I post on STL cardinals boards, it's the same way. The Yankee boards are worse. Steelers boards are worse. It's part of being the best.

Some people want to pound the negatives even when they admit it's a "minority" of fans. Why? Why not talk about all the great fans on jones show?

Because we wouldn't be talking about it. It's about business and I understand that. But damn, people should let off. It's not a huge deal.

Hmmm, you're right, I could do that couldn't I? LOL. Never even thought about it to be honest. I honestly don't even know where to find it, but might from time to time once I learn where I can listen to it.

I stay very, very busy during the day, like most of us, so I never have a chance to listen to a radio, but I'd totally forgotten there was a podcast available.

Yes, I'm a geezer.

good thing about the podcast is if its boring you can just fast forward to something interesting.

He should be banned not for his opinion, which I share BTW, but because he has just hurt this site. In other wards, less people will post and join if they think what they say will be blasted on the public radio. That negatively affects rivals business. I would not only ban him, I'd seek a cease and desist mentioning postings on this site on his show.

I guarantee that getting blasted on public radio will be the most exciting thing that ever happens to these guys.

That's not his point. Getting negativity going about Kentucky fans is a business play. He couldn't care less about being right.

Well I really enjoy the KSR shows and he has a point about some fans. But some of those fans are not UK fans. We have people that have accounts for years and just now post to troll. so out of 3 mentioned today, for certain 33% was not a UK fan.

There were a couple I've seen who genuinely wanted him gone. There was one, I don't remember who it was; it wasn't an obvious one like cut-nets; but he said that Cal should take an NBA job in the offseason and we should go after Shaka Smart.

Those are very few and far between though. Almost as annoying are some who literally never say a good thing about him. They simply ask questions like "how many titles would coach K or Pitino have won with this talent?" They may not actually say "I want a new coach" but this one still isn't good enoughfor them.

Admittedly I'm probably closer to the sunshine pumper end of the spectrum but I'm not an "in Cal we trust" guy either. I have NO issues with saying Cal has made mistakes, wishing he would do this or that differently, play zone, recruit more shooters, etc. I respect that. But it is simply stupid to look at the results we've had and be miserable about it.

When I walk thru the lower level of Lexington Center, I believe it may be Jones doing most of the talking on stage before the game. Since I don't normally favor habitual liars, thieves, journalists, media types, CEO's, lawyers, salesmen and politicians, it's nothing personal when I go straight to the bar to drink with regular people. Are there exceptions? Sure. There has to be an Israeli Muslim somewhere.

His political leanings are immaterial as well. I feel fairly confident he'd be a journalist even if he was a conservative. I mean who's unlikable more than those people? A liberal is simply 1/2 of a 2-headed coin. Not a huge difference in either side as far as I can tell. The more I read sports, politics and business, the more truth I find in this idea.

I'm still curious why some people are so offended by usernames on a forum being mentioned on a radio show. Do you think people heard MJ say "BlueBlood1609" and automatically thought "damn-it Bill, why did you embarrass Elizabethtown again?". I don't even know if that was one of the names, but MJ did nothing wrong calling out a few people with idiotic posts, especially when he prefaced it by saying several nice things (and not veiled insults) prior to calling said idiotic posts out.

And S&C, you've said many things on here that I've agreed with, but you do seem to have a creepy obsession with MJ. You said you were upset about so much time being spent on such a small portion of our fanbase, but you may have posted more in this thread than anyone. We all get it.. you hate MJ/KSR and hold some sort of grudge. Let it go and try and find some small part of that site you can enjoy. If nothing else enjoy Freddie Maggard's football commentary. It's not too shabby, especially for a bball-centered site.

And you won't find one post that even border lines a "creepy obsession". Md1.whatever is the only person I see getting remotely close to creepy. So, there's that.

When I was a member of TBK, I saw first hand what Matt Jones is. He's not just a liar, but he's a thief. Does it take an obsession to just simply not care for a person? This board takes jones in such bizarro ways. I've never seen people get accused of being creepy or obsessing or being jealous of anyone, not even cal.... but Matt jones? Why? That's the truly bizarro part.

The ones that like jones go out of their way to bash and ridicule anyone who doesn't like him, but you're not going after those.

I take issue with jones going after UK fans when that's where his bread is buttered. Matt jones calling anyone out, much less a UK fan, for expressing a hardened stance on cal is complete BS. Matt jones called Calipari everything in the book and only changed is mind when it was going to hurt business. I don't think I need to link his original stance on cal. It was over the top and completely false. So why is he calling others out for far less?

For business. That's why. Forgive me for taking up for fellow UK fans against his ilk. I'll do it Everytime.

As we've already been told, one of them wasn't even a UK fan.

He's said far worse about Calipari. Someone should call him out instead of ignoring it.

Yea, that's just as crazy as a poster pretending to be dead. Then coming on here with multiple accounts, after their "death" and arguing with accounts.

Meh, no ones perfect.

I thought he admitted that he had said those things and apologized for them. It is kind of the nature of the business and being a fan, to make fun of competition. We are talking sports and not a hire for someone who will make decisions that personally effects our daily lives.

The apology is enough for you or it isn't. Plus with the way it worked out this perfectly prepares Matt to be a politician.

I personally don't think it's any of Matt Jones business what a poster on here says. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Do I think Coach Cal is a great coach, NO, but I think he is a good coach and a great recruiter. I personally think he got out coached in the Wisconsin game in the last 4 minutes. The twins should have been on the bench, because they would not pass the ball into KAT, even though his man had four fouls on him.
I never see a back door cut, or a pick and roll. With that being said, do I want to see Cal gone? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I think him being able to recruit and coach, puts him in the Top 5 coaches in the college game.
I don't like Pitno, but I think he is one of the best coaches in the game today. Cal has beat him 8 out of 9 at UK. I just watched him shut down NC's game with a good defense. Would I want him instead of Cal at UK. HE-- NO.
Go ahead and criticize what I've just posted. That's your right! I have been following UK much longer then 99% of the posters on here, and I'm a Fellow of UK, and I feel everyone is entitled to their opinion. PI$$ on Matt Jones for calling anyone out on here.

Please my dude, go find a quote where I said Cal can't coach. I said somethings gotta change, never said we need a new coach. I said no way should we be losing to a 10-11 team at UK
Which year was it we lost four out of our last seven including getting thumped at home by Florida. But, didn't we end up in the final four.

I love it when our rival fans count us out and guess what they get knocked out.

But Any UK fan that counts out a Cal team is not a fan considering his history in the tournament.

Relevance is all about the final four. Cal has made us relavant.

When he was hired we all said he needed to do the following:

No more losses to crummy teams at home. What are we 114-4

BEAT our rival. 8-1

Make Kentucky relavant by going to the final four and wining championships.

Not one fan can complain about that. You'd think.

That is insane. A well listened to radio program bringing attention to something posted on Rivals a bad thing? Even bad publicity is good publicity. Call one of my post out Matt, feel free. I am only a small turd but I am fine with it.

So my name made it to KSR huh? For asking why a coach that gets paid as much as he does can take a loss to a terrible Tennessee team and people act like its no big deal? I believe we have the best of the best, in coach Cal. But obviously what he's doing isn't working this year. So why not make adjustments. At least try something different.

What would you like him to do differently? Please bless us with your D1 coaching knowledge since you obviously could do a better job than a hall of fame coach.
