Exactly. And he has delusions of being an insider. But there is no way UK coaches are violating NCAA rules by giving sensitive restricted recruiting information to a self serving would-be politician who just got forced out by a local station for conflict of interest.
That particular bit of non info may have been empty but honestly, just peruse this board. Of all the posts we see, most are the posters opinion that doesn't contain anything but that, their opinion. Very few posters bring actual news to this board. Smashcat is an exception. I simply read the board for fun and for the occasional bit of true information. I like it.
Some of you people will whine about anything. KSR does have people that keep up with who the coaches are visiting and who they watch most often. They then make the sometimes accurate prediction about the level of interest of each party. Some of you guys act like Cal and his assistants are in a lab breaking down the ingredients to coke. Coaches do not have to say a word but it is obvious info gets out.
Most of the people on this board don't have a vested interest in conveying information in a particular way. It's mostly a conglomerate of B.S. for the sake of entertainment. Few (and likely none) of us think we're offering the world anything, and I'm unaware of anyone offering their views in such a way as to solicit web hits/ twitter followers based on rumor. Jones makes his livelihood on that level, and props to him for doing it, but he also has to get his water from the rumor well at times, and when he does, anyone has the right to call it empty because it almost always is. That doesn't mean Jones is a bad guy or doesn't offer us good info at times. It just means that sometimes his information is precisely what I said, empty. And because I offer that view from a message board, it doesn't strengthen Jones
I think the biggest difference is that we own the basis of our BS on this message board because we have nothing to sell each other. We exchange ideas to pass the time and find some form of community, even if that community is mostly emaciated and insubstantial. I live in the Midwest, so having other real people to run ideas about the program is at the very least, entertaining for me.
Plus, info is gathered and processed and delineated here among fans who offer less of a "buy my paper" type way and more of "that's rubbish" opinion-based bar style. It's really two entirely different mediums distributed for entirely different reasons.
