I think most would be happy if he came, just not convinced he'll make a significant impact on this years team. That said, if he stays on for next year, I'd be ecstatic.

[eyeroll] . I want Diallo but not at the cost of Young and if he comes this season I don't see how it will help the team . He isn't a SF ( he is 6'4 and can't shoot ) so how his he different then Briscoe besides being able to jump higher? This team could use a true SF ,which are very rare but we have one next season in Vanderbilt , and a bully PF like Swanigan . Diallo on this team makes little to no sense but I am putting my trust in Cal like always as he has never let me down.

Nine years ago he would be better than what we had . Today that's highly debatable .

Even if that was his intention, I am not sure how long it would take UK to get all his transcripts and get the NCAA to approve him. They are not known for their haste in giving players approval, for eligibilty to play, especially if it is UK.

Actually that hasn't been the case. They have changed before 24hrs before he decision but most of the time they haven't. You can't pick the what they do a low percentage of the time and try to make it the norm

I wouldn't pay too much attention to those guys ( I know I never do) until 24 hours before a guy announces . I would be surprised he went joined that train wreck. The " gurus" usually just go with the grain until the last 24 hours or so and then they hear what is going to happen and pick again . But not always as in the case with WG , Murray , Bam ect ect.

I don't care what they do with guys UK isn't recruiting but with guys we are that is absolutely the case. They are wrong just a much as they are right if you go on what they say for months . Now with 24 hours to go or so they usually get it right b/c it leaks. I bet the crystal ball starts to go in UK's favor when Diallo looks like he will commits to us. My point being is at this point paying attention to the ball is silly . If you like to do it that is fine but it ain't anywhere close to the gospel.

If he is good if enough to help this team he will play, and who cares who minutes he takes, it means he is better than the player he his taking minutes from.
If he is not good enough to play right now, we get an upgrade in practice, which will help in the long run. He is guy that we have seen this team have trouble guarding, so he would be asset even if it is only in practice.
It also helps Cal in determining who needs to continue to recruit for next. If he shows the skill level to go in this draft, Cal will know before the spring. So he can keep looking for another shooting guard. If not Cal will know and will have another guard already on the roster for next year.

We went from wanting guys like Verdell Jones, Maurice Sutton, etc. a few years ago to not wanting guys like Diallo today.

Kentucky went to the Final Four in 2011 with one of the major factors (much undervalued then and now by those who only watch the ball going through the basket) being DeAndre Liggins' defense on the perimeter.

If Diallo can come in and provide athletic defense on the wing, his value will far outweigh any risk. How will it work? I'm glad UK has a hall of fame coach to figure that out.
