I'm sorry, but when was the "silly bickering and griping" ever not what this board "used to be"? This forum's always had that--don't pretend like it's something new. In fact, I'd say the average behavior here now is actually BETTER today than it "used to be" during some of our ignominious past periods.
I mean, seriously, were you not around here during the late Tubby and Billy Gillispie eras? If you think this board's decorum is worse now than it was in those wild and wooly days then your memory is plainly failing you.
That said, there's still always been an awful lot of good basketball discussion here alongside the mayhem. We've got nothing to apologize for.

How was that unclear? You accused him of posting here in the past "seeking people's approval", said what he says is irrelevant to you, but then you said now he is "too big" to post here now. Seemed like a valid inference that you expressed distaste for him and his posting in the past and now are accusing him of being too big to post her now. That's what the hell I'm talking about.

There are a lot more trolls and fake accounts out there than people realize on all social media sites. And then a lot of the real accounts are just idiots who do not represent people well in general.
Matt Jones and his political views are no representation of me, that's for damn sure.
Look at any celebrity or athlete's tweets and read the replies from followers. You will quickly lose faith in humanity. Much worse than comments on any moderated message board.

plus Matt got what he wanted/needed - he knew something would be taken out of context and blown up here, on this board. Now, he can reference it.
Matt Jones is good at what he does - he stirs the pot and gets the reaction. Means more hits on his site, and listeners for his radio show.

Matt Jones is criticized by some on this board. I'm not saying they're wrong and I'm not saying they're right but for business it makes sense that he wouldn't be favorable of any site that gives him criticism. Does he get a lot of love on twitter? I don't have twitter but he probably does.
That's all this is, it has nothing to with RR. It has everything to do with how good of perception of him a website gives him.
Why do people feel the need to say they don't like Matt Jones so often? If you don't like him, don't listen to him. Problem solved. I've never seen so many people say things like "I don't care what he says" and then go into a rant of why they disagree with what he says. If you don't care, why are you listening?!?! Seems odd.
Personally, he's entertaining. He tells you up front he never played football and he clearly jokes on himself about basketball, so what's the big deal? I think people just like to criticize people any chance they get. That's all. If it wasn't Matt jones it would be someone else. People are crazy.

I agree with you. Matt is like the person who gripes about Topix being a gossip site but goes there everyday to see what is being said. I listen to his show and he has a good thing going but just like Pitino his ego and arrogance will be the downfall of his show. Pitino thought he was so loved by UK fans he could go to U of L and we would still love him. Matt thinks he is so loved by fans that he can do his political rants, bash fans, etc and they will still love him. He may find out otherwise and have to go back to being an attorney instead of the great gig he has right now. I guess I will be on his show tomorrow. :joy:
I have to say I disagree with that. He's running a UK blog and radio show and it's good business to alienate a large online block of UK fans? I used to visit his blog on occasion but since he got combative with this board about a year ago I now avoid it like the plague. Seems to me he'd want to leverage this site with some goodwill to generate traffic.

I don't care what MJ thinks of this board. I don't need his approval or acceptance. Somehow folks think his views are more valid because he has a radio show and somewhat access to UK.
There are folks on here that that are over the top both ways. So what. The fan base for UK is overwhelmingly positive. Every fan base has those who can't be reasonable.

Jones said the voice of the fans has moved to Twitter, and that Cats Illustrated is a thing of the past, and some other stuff. Basically disregarded the fans on this message board. Some of whom even take money out of their paycheck to get on here. Just thought that was kind of a shot to the passionate fans on here who write their opinions

When anyone starts holding up Twitter as a bastion of intellectual insight or critical thinking, I'd say the shark has officially been jumped.
The op did exactly what Matt accused the other guy of doing and made his comments seem a lot worse then they were. If you don't have the ability to determine who he is and is not referring to then I don't feel sorry for you. We have some people on here who don't deserve to be defended.
