Let’s just get the notion out of our heads that he isn’t the guy too replace SF in the first place..

Campbell has hit his ceiling and shown he is an average coach. I have also heard ISU fans complain he runs a “good ole boys“ network and won’t fire his friends. I don’t want a coach ISU fans are starting to get tired of.

Last year I'd probably be happy to have him. Now I'd honestly be pretty disappointed. And that's an understatement

These coaches at schools with limited ceilings need to cash in when they get an outlier or 2 season otherwise you regress to the mean and the offers dry up

The 250,000 miles of tread made off the 2017 Oklahoma win has seemed to worn away.

The 5 year warranty is no good either.

He has now called out the whole Iowa State fanbase (unfairly) for the 2nd time. On top of the fact he refuses to change what isn't working, which is leading to him losing more, he's showing that he's a colossal douchebag. He's a poor man's Pelini. Outdated and angry at the wrong things. Don't want at all

If the media stopped jocking up ISU each preseason the fans would be fine.

The fans keep falling for these "expectations" that are not realistic.

I bet he'd jump in a heartbeat.

Or they become lifers at these schools and they go down in history as the best thing to have ever happened at that small school.

He definitely missed his window to cash in. I’m scared of hiring Mickey because of the unknowns, but I’d take Mickey over that guy with zero hesitation.

And that is why he should have listened to offers last year from anybody who offered. He’ll probably be buried in Ames
Iowa State will probably name their field after him if he stays in Ames for 20 years and takes them to bowl games at least 15 out of those 20 years.

The problem is that raising a bad team to average is considered miracle work. It just takes some time, motivation and no pressure. There are no expectations. Doing the same at a high-profile program gets you fired.

Iowa State doesn't recruit all that well, but they do a good job of getting a guy here or there and they developed pretty well.

Last year's quarterback and running back were studs but they are now in the NFL. Iowa State was expected to see a drop off from the last 2 years of production. For their sake, hopefully they have skill players that they like and will improve.

Comical that even Iowa State fans can get spoiled by success. Iowa state, know your place, which is bottom half of the Big 12.

Why would he leave ISU for the nebraska job? Nebraska is a career killer for coaches.

The current fervor for Leipold reminds of the fervor for Campbell a couple years ago.

I do not see the greatness in Matt Campbell. I think is an OK coach, neither good nor bad. Just OK
I agree. He is just ok. A little above average, but not spectacular. However, after Scott Frost, someone like Matt Campbell looks good by comparison.

I mean, I like Leipold... I like Campbell. They are very competent coaches, something we haven't had in a long time. Admittedly I might be selling Leipold short, it seems like maybe he's got more upside.
