Before I call the kid a complete douche I would like to find out if anything was said to him that brought on his committing to Pitt while at the RU camp.
Could be RU wouldn't agree to what he wanted ( 2 sports?) or he really is a complete douche-bag and made the move because of that.

If a douche-bag move by Alaimo without just cause, hope if he ever decides Pitt isn't for him, RU lets him know he's not wanted, even as a walk-on

Really could have used this kid. Had all the tools to be an excellent TE/WR. IMHO a tweener that could have played either position successfully.

Gotta hand it to him. In today's day and age of media and egos, it's hard to come across as a jerk and piss off an entire fan base where your family lives and where he'll probably return to. But congrats, he did it. Can't believe the decision on the announcement was smart in any sense of the word.

No matter the reason, if he was at RU and committed elsewhere or even immediately after he left- ***** move and on purpose.
Sounds like Dad orchestrated this one.
Pitt makes no sense for a NJ kid. Schools are almost exactly the same but one is in the middle of no where while the other in your backyard.
Middle of nowhere?

You have to be thinking of Ped st. Pitt is located in the middle of a city.........just sayin

St. Joseph's coach Augie Hoffman is no friend of Rutgers. I'd love to know what his compensation is when his teams camp at Boston College.

I actually like the city of Pitt but driving to Pitt from NJ, you are driving through the middle of no where and that drive just sux. My point is that if you are from NJ and can choose Rutgers or Pitt, they are so similar as schools, there is no reason to go to Pitt.

Agree he should have just kept the decision to himself until today. The schools are similar in academics for sure, but at least for now Pitt's football program is ahead of RU. It is hard to recruit local kids when they see and hear most of the negativity concerning the local university. Pitt also battles this to some extent. Rutgers will get players slowly but the lustre of the new coach wears off quickly and they need to get a signature win.. I hope RU does this and along with Maryland make like more difficult in Happy Valley

There are plenty of reasons to choose Pitt over Rutgers or vice versa. Don't be a bird brain.

Not if you live in NJ. Similar academics, so no advantage there. Both P5, no advantage Pitt there. ACC vs B1G no advantage Pitt, both schools really aren't much different in football but RU has a higher ceiling. Slight advantage right now for Pitt. No difference in potential playing time. No advantage Pitt. Job potential, advantage Rutgers. Ease of family/friends watching games in person, advantage Rutgers. Getting home and back on short breaks, advantage Rutgers, stadiums, advantage Rutgers...
Please give me the advantages of Pitt except our last 2 year record...Thank you
PS: not knocking Pitt but just no glaring point for choosing over your own equal state school that has some advantages...

Yes there is . Pitt will win the ACC in the near term future. Pitt beat Clemson and Penn ST. last year. When was the last time Rutgers beat anyone of note? Rutgers is a Big 10 bottom feeder for eternity. Pitt has won 9 national championships and has a multitude of players in the college and pro hall of fames. In comparison Rutgers has NO FB tradition whatsoever!

PITT is a has been and will never rise above mediocrity .
Jealous they were never offered entry into the B1G. And playing in a rent a stadium .....lmao

Rutgers has more upside and any comparison by PITT fans is a joke.

My brother played at Pitt. It's not in the middle of nowhere. It's in a city. The city of Pittsburgh is way better than New Brunswick.

Pitt has a better program than we do right now. Glass house. The national champion and the Heisman trophy winner were both from the ACC. Pitt beat the national champions last year, we lost to Michigan 78-0. I would've chopped my arm off to go 8-5 last year. You guys sound like bitter ex-girlfriends.

That's kind of a stretch when trying to validate a conference.(that was your intent) One good player and one good team doesn't make the ACC a good conference. But I'm sure ESPiN will try and use just those categories to promote their brand every chance they get.

You do know that Lamar Jackson (Heisman winner) doesn't play for Clemson (national champion), right?

Your national title from '76 with Dorsett is legit...not sure about those other retroactive ones awarded decades later based off a computer program.

Regardless of some of the comparisons expressed comparing the schools the point to focus is the original one on the announcement by the Alaimo family at a Rutgers event. Totally a lack of any respect or class. It puts them as well as St. Joe's in a negative light. Given the fact that over the years Rutgers has had an open and good relationship with the school and former longtime coach Karcher (who is now the AD) this is sad to see. I think most here want to ask and get a rational answer from the Alaimos as to why this was done this way as opposed to waiting to announce the commitment in another way.

Let's not try to downplay Pitt as a lesser or poor choice. It's a very good school. Smaller in size in terms of getting around campus and has a very good academic situation as well as proven overall football and athletic success. The big ***** here is the valid one as to the inexcusable action by the Alaimo family. Maybe they or their coach might care to explain or clarify.....but I doubt it.

Very well-stated and agreed. IMO stuff like that often says a lot more about the people doing it than anything or anyone else.

Not for nothing but we spent Father's Day weekend in Pittsburgh. Beautiful city.

Hello Lectures

Gave you a few recommendations on your visit to Pittsburgh.

If you get the time would be interested in some specifics on your impressions of the city and some of the sites you visited.

Thanks.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

He seems like a good prospect since he had over 11 offers from P5 schools.

One of the reasons he may have chosen Pitt was because he will reconnect with his HS team mate Nick Patti (QB) who is also coming to Pitt.

Rutgers is a good school who is experiencing some growing pains (W-L record) but will improve ..

Grew up in the Mon Valley back in the fifties. Always loved going to Oakland to Forbes Field to see the Pirates with the knot hole club. MY dad would take me to the Pitt-ND games and those were cherished moments . Back then, the city was dirty and smokey. was there a few weeks ago and the place is beautiful. Very clean, modern look . It's now a corporate center and has transitioned from the old steel town to a modernwPIA metropolis. if a kid chooses Pitt, so be it. Like I said , he's gone and out of our hair. Pitt isn't for everyone, and they have problems recruiting their own backyard. plus, the WPIAL isn't what it used to be, fewer p5 kids to go after and the ones that are seem to go elsewhere. Pitt should be a solid program, but they will not win enough games against Clemson, Florida st. Miami, on a regular basis to win tha acc.
