Mathis once again took over the game early and set the tone .. how many games in a row where he’s had a key stretch for us? We go down 5-2 crowd is quieted, and then:

Mathis random 3
Mathis half court toss to RHJ for Alley Oop
Mathis to the hole into a PU timeout
Agree. He's really upped his game. Making better decisions, playing to his strengths, and, like you said, he's been big time at the start of the last few games.

I love that hes doing it but we need someone else to start strong and cant count on it every game. Keep going to him early though. He comes out ready to play. Some people are like that and others need to get in the flow of the game. It's a real factor

After every game we always see threads pop up about individual guys. I can’t figure out who my top 5 are. Love geo but then McConnell really steps up then Mathis then young had a really good stretch then yeboah.... really awesome to see these guys have success.

we are lucky to be watching these guys play!

The way we share the game reminds me of an experienced team from a weaker conference that plays like a unit and is dangerous. The differences are we are not very experienced overall and are doing it in the toughest conference in the country.

He is just one third through his career...and his ceiling is high. He just needs to continue to work it...and it will come

Actually, it’s scary to think how much upside we still have in Mathis, Harper, Johnson, and macconnell

Even geo has upside in shaking off his rust, and young can get better.

It’s potentially scary

Mathis is really coming into his own. He's a talented kid, and he is learning to play within his abilities. His outside shooting is really improving. He really is a threat to drive and shoot.

directly responsible for RU getting that double digit lead..hit that 3 then baited the player into fouling him, I thought that changed everything as Purdue really got frustrated and started fouling

problem with Mathis though is he truly is hot and cold with his offense, all 9 points first half. Cannot wait until he can become consistent from half to half . His defense is always excellent

Mathis has been money early in games. He sets the tone. Next step is to figure out how to keep him involved & contributing throughout the game.
He stops taking the 3 and has been passing up some good opportunities to take it to the basket. I think he is a little gun shy trying to err on the side of not forcing things which is nice
